About Me
JOHNNY SMOKE’s music features edgy guitar grooves backed by strong, driving rhythms, all woven with vocals that are melodic and aggressive. The result is an explosive blend of sonic energy and raw emotion released in an electrifying stage show that absolutely commands your attention. Dubbed "Rochester’s Aerosmith" by local radio personality Unkle Roger (RIP), word of their crowd-pleasing, high-energy performances quickly spread throughout the area. As a result, they have had the opportunity to share the stage with several big-name acts over the years, including surf-guitar legend Dick Dale, and Firehouse.
The band followed their victory in The Made In Rochester Competition in 1999 with the release of their debut CD, Crime Don’t Pay Yet, in early 2000. Songs from the disc have been featured on WCMF, WBZA, WBER, and WITR in Rochester, WAQX in Syracuse, and WGRF in Buffalo. Music from the CD has also been used in commercials for WCMF’s sports programming.
The band’s second disc, For A Dollar, was released in April ’07 and demonstrates their classic rock influences with songs that are raw reflections of modern life in the free world. In addition to The Smoke Shop, the PayPal-verified store at the band’s website, the disc is available for purchase at many other online retailers, including CD Baby and Amazon Marketplace. Also, you can preview and download individual tracks at PayPlay and i-Tunes. Don’t delay - go get your copy of this ten-song salute to passion, truth, justice, and The American Way.
In addition to their red-hot originals, the band showcases authentic renditions of guitar rock favorites from the ’70’s during their blistering performances. Billed as The Kings Of Classic Rock, their set list includes music from The Who, Bad Company, ZZ Top, and Alice Cooper. But their crowning is largely due to their being Number 1 in the Northeast when it comes to covers of Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith. (and that’s no Number 2)
