About Me

I still support the WGA, I just got tired of not being able to see my face. Everybody else gets to see it all day (LUCKY!), but I only see it once in a while.

My Interests

I prefer General Clay to General Gore. Gore seems a little pessimistic for my taste. I mean, he really thought all the sand could just blow away from the beach? Come on, dude, take a chance.

I'd like to meet:

You know that guy who wrote 'Bear V. Shark'? That guy.

Music:

I have very good taste in classic rock, with a special concentration on British classic rock, but, chronologically, around the time that the drummers started dying off (ca. 1979), my taste becomes extremely esoteric and maybe even questionable sometimes. You probably wouldn't care for it. Except that everybody should give Dan Reeder a shot. Seriously, just try it.

Movies:

RIP Robert Altman

Television:

I'm counting down the days until 'The Wire' gets back. January 6, 2008. 9 weeks after that, television will have peaked, and will never be that good again.

Books:

Lately, I been kickin' it old school with my man Chuck D. (That's Dickens, y'all.)I just acquired a Library Card. It seems a lot like Netflix for books, only they also have DVDs. And it's free. I'm sure there's a scam to it, I just haven't figured it out yet.

Heroes:

Terry Southern and Doug Kenney, except for the cocaine stuff. And as a filmmaker, I gotta go with Terry Gilliam.

on the subway

I almost sat down, but then I saw that there was dirty dried gum in the seat, and even though it didn't look sticky, I didn't want to sit on it.  I didn't go too far, though.  At the next st...

racist or not: You Make The Call

So I was eating lunch yesterday, and at the next table over was an aging black couple.  Towards the end of their meal, the woman got excited and started pointing at an Asian guy standing on line....

What a nifty day

Two incredibly surprising things.  Peter Jackson finally settled his differences with New Line and is going to be involved in 'The Hobbit' [not quite clear on exactly what he'll wind up doing, as...

Professional Writing

So that script which I was paid to write is finished now.  Or, anyway, any future work I do on it will be mechanical, based on changes requested by the writer or producers.  While they're wo...

fun with spam

Usually, I just delete my spam without reading it, or forward any phishing attempts on to the right people, but I couldn't resist when the subject line was: stimulate a giant dick christian Sure en...

three months, yesterday

The strange thing was not that I was drunk in a pool in NYC that night.  That was unusual, but it was, after all, a birthday party in a hotel bar/pool.  And anybody who knows me well enough ...

there are days, and then there are days

This is the first day in at least a month where I have really wanted a cigarette. That would seem to indicate "Take Friday off." Or maybe Monday. Or September. 95% of the time, work is stress-free...

Adventures on a Shuttle Bus, pt. 6: the beginning

So, a subway train broke down in front of mine, and, as a result, my train stopped at Bedford Ave.  It was interesting to see the usually quiet Bedford stop swarming with hundreds of semi-strande...

Me and Don Murphy

There's a lot to read here, but the ending is completely worth it.  I spent a lot of free time at work today having this conversation in a forum on-line, interrupted at various times by doing, yo...
