About Me

I'm a normal guy - more normal than I'd like to admit. I like the cliche guy stuff like motorised things and extreme sports. Not a fan of regular sports though, it's just not me.
I'm a public servant. I push a pen and work on my office tan for 37.5 hours every week. The rest of those hours I like to fill with music stuff, whether that means seeing live music, listening to music or just thinking about it I don't mind. I just love music! I also enjoy a run or bike ride when I can find some spare time.
I've lived in a lot of places, worked a lot of jobs and met a lot of people. I have loved, hated, succeeded, failed, been and gone. I have learned.

My Interests

Do you think self-analyzing and public commentary class as interests?
Am I answering a question with a question?
Ok, so here's just some of the things that tickle my fancy: Music, motorbikes, running, cycling, climbing, abseiling, socialising, cars, movies, gadgets, fashion, sleeping, food, art, cocktails, politics
And for balance, here's a selection of items that push my buttons: Reality television, music competitions, pop culture, manufactured music, religious fanatics, telemarketing, lies, immoral big corporates and, last but by no means least, anyone who defines themselves with the above.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to talk to anyone with a passion for something. I think everyone needs to be passionate about at least one thing. Doesn't matter what, it just needs to be yours. If you have something you love even if I know nothing about it you have my interest.

Music:

Nah, not really into music much... hahahahaha
A small selection of artists I love in no particular order:
Dave Matthews Band, Counting Crows, Queen, Ryan Adams, Led Zepplin, Foo Fighters, Greenday, Jimmy Eat World, Maroon 5, Pearl Jam, Matchbox 20, Reel Big Fish, System Of A Down, Queens Of The Stone Age, The Doors, Rage Against The Machine, The Whitlams, Thirsty Merc, Unwritten Law, Tool, Stereophonics, Motor Ace, Live, Hendrix, Jeff Buckley, Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, The Eels, Dropkick Murphys, Disturbed, Ben Folds Five...
And of course the local bands... Glory Tuesday, Outsiders, .hinge, Crisis, Sixteen Millimetre and as of tonight (02/06/07) - Winston and Aimee Francis.
There are so many more but i can't keep typing!!
oh, and of course...

Movies:

O' Brother Where Art Thou
Anything by the Monty Python gang
Garden State
Punch Drunk Love

Television:

Scrubs
Boston Legal
Futurama
Family Guy
thats about all I can actually be bothered sitting down to watch (how crap is TV these days?!?)
And a special "Dislikes" section for the following:
Australian Idol is killing music.
Big Brother is bastardising "celebrity".
Insert others here.

Books:

Unfortunately I don't think physics text books and street press magazines are supposed to be listed here...

Heroes:

Anyone who follows through with their goals for the long term. I think that belief in yourself is the hardest thing to maintain.

My Blog

Here’s to good friends

If crashing my motorbike was the most exciting thing that had happened to me in the last six months I'd be grateful. When I look at all the excitement, it's all been bad stuff. Lost jobs, lost love,...

Treating ’em mean to keep ’em keen

My first taste was in high school, when the older guy "stole" the girl I'd been chasing for so long. He wasn't necessarily better looking and he didn't have anything I didn't, but he sauntered in wit...

Monumental Fuckups

There's something about the unobtainable and the forbidden that triggers an unyielding yearning to conquer. What is it about the human psyche that propels us towards such obviously disastrous outcomes...

Not again

On face value it often seems a good idea to rekindle an old flame. Upon deeper analysis of that proposition it becomes apparent that, whilst all the qualities to which you were initially attracted sti...

Episode 2 - Keep your friends closer...

In four days the face I insult in the mirror every morning will be on television sets in millions of American homes. Not only that, but it will be attached to my body, with which I have never been ful...

Episode 1 - And so it begins

It's a twisted, fucked up world we live in and I wish I could say that my life is somehow removed from that reality, but alas it's not so.  I have the decision to make - do I fall in line with all the...
