I think i've already said enough..
Hmmm... My first choice would probably have to be my long lost twin brother... that would be pretty wild. As long as he's not looking for money... or a kidney. OK, who else? How about a girl that I could have an actual conversation with without her staring at my junk every 20 seconds. Seriously ladies, eyes up top, have some class... So I guess now would be an ideal spot to slip in some sort of generic self-romanticizing notion about wanting to meet "real" people who can "stimulate" me. But the truth of the matter is... I know how to stimulate myself. uhhhh. And besides, every dipshit on the planet thinks that they're the real deal. Being overly critical of others doesn't make you any more "real" than your Mom's new boobs.
That being said, I get along pretty well with just about everybody... even total idiots. Given the nature of my line of work, I tend to know a lot of people. I have a VAST amount of friends, but only a few very close ones. I didn't join Myspace to find my next soul-mate of the month and I'm convinced that every girl I meet on here is really a creepy 55 year old man or trying to sell me penis pills and ringtones. I'm really just on here for networking, occasional bouts of people watching and keeping in touch with the almighty Tom...

Instead of listing every decent musician I can think of, I figured I would just expell my basic philosophy and then you can use your imagination from there on. Ya dig?
Music is a HUGE passion of mine. I would sell my first born child for a $50 iTunes Gift Card... a full blown polyphonic prostitute. I've been playing guitar for about six years, DJing for four and have recently started experimenting with recording and producing music from my desktop. I suck at all 3 of them, in no particular order. And although I consider myself a pretty shitty musician, I do have impecable taste. My iPod is over 14,000 songs and a virtual gold mine.
I realize I may come off like one of those pretentious, know it all, auditory assholes, but I am appalled by most of what passes for good music these days. In my experiences, I've found one's taste of music usually reflects their creativity, inclination towards self discovery, and overall depth/range of experience; which in turn translates to every other aspect of their life. It truly does tell volumes about a person. Me and shitty music don't get along... and it's not a difference I'm looking to reconcile. I try to appreciate all types of music for what the artist is trying to accomplish, despite my own personal tastes. It doesn't have to be serious or even deep at all, but I prefer it when it offers a creative and original statement(other than bitchez, money and killing people. BORING. I do that shit everyday too...) It has to have a message, otherwise, whats the point?
I can appreciate everything from Elvis Costello to Public Enemy. Joy Division to Johnny Cash. Nine Inch Nails to Nina Simone. I'm not going to take the time to list every obviously great artist, so I'll do my top 5. Pink Floyd, Beck, Incubus, The Kinks, Modest Mouse and Bad Religion. OK, so top six.... screw you if you noticed.
A few new(er) bands heavy in my current rotation are Interpol, Kasabian, LCD Soundsystem, TV on the Radio, James Figurine, Sparta, The Mars Volta, Ambulance ltd, The Dandy Warhols, Hot Chip, The Greenhornes, DFA 1979, The Postal Service, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Living Things, Voxtrot, The Avalanches, Spoon, The Whitest Boy Alive, Sigur Ros, The Presets, The Arcade Fire, Annuals, Bloc Party, The Ponys, The Rapture
Anything directed by Tarantino, Kubrick or Richard Linklater (especially Waking Life.) Dumb and Dumber, Wedding Crashers, Rushmore, City of God, Lord of War, Office Space, Fight Club, The Departed, Fear and Loathing, Being John Malkovich, Donnie Darko, The Jerk, Garden State, Spun, Blow, Land of the Blind, Mail Order Wife, Tommy Boy, American History X, Ass Blasters 5 (kidding), A Night at the Roxbury, Made, Casino, DIG!, The Big Lebowski, The Fog of War, American Beauty, ect... A HUGE documentary buff... No special effects, gimmicks or excessive plots. Nothing is more powerful or can capture the true essence of life like a good documentary.
I like to watch random low budget shitty TV. The channels nobody watches. Some of those shows are the most unintentionally funny things I've ever seen.Since my schedule is kind of erratic, I dont have the opportunity to tune in same Bat-time, same Bat-Channel. So I like to buy series when they come out on DVD or iTunes and watch them at my leisure: LOST, Sopranos, The Wire, Family Guy, South Park, Pen + Teller: Bullshit! (smartest show on TV.), Californication, Mr. Show, Saturday Night Live, The Daily Show, Wonder Showzen, The Soup, Arrested Development, Entourage, The Ali G Show. And of course... CNN and random History + Discovery Channel programs.
I read like a MOFO. I have a tendency to juggle 5 or 6 books at a time. For the most part, I like to read for content, not entertainment. I can't stand murder/mysteries and cheesy romance/drama novels. I enjoy a lot of philosophical, science(natural and social)and political books. Mostly Non-fiction, but some fiction, as long as it provokes the mind. I'm sure I could go on forever here, but I'll try not to. A few of my reccomendations are: The Seven Mysteries of Life, The History of Western Philosophy, Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs, What Every American Should Know About The Rest Of The World, Straw Dogs, The Spike, Radical Evolution, A Peoples History of The United States, Breaking Open the Head, Freakonomics, No Logo, The Virtue of Selfishness, 10 Things You Cant Say In America, The Jesus Mysteries, The End of Faith, The God Delusion, A Brave New World, 1984, The Brothers Karamazov, War and Peace, A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius, Geek Love and anything by Hunter S. Thompson, Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club, Choke, Haunted) Kurt Vonnegut (Cat's Cradle, Siren's of Titan.) or HOWARD BLOOM (The Lucifer Principle, Global Brain, The Soul in the Machine.) Brilliant writers!! I also have a tendency to randomly read the dictionary, almanacs, ect. I tried to read all the Encyclopedias once, but I only made it about half way through the A's. (Did you know that an Abolone is a type of snail with 5 assholes?)
All of the great minds that have shaped this world for the better. Good teachers and good parents.
