Update!!! Howie has been found, contacted, and back on board.... Ice Angel will be going back into the studio or shall I say studios and finishing up the 3 songs that were not finished 19 years ago. We will also be recording other tunes, such as Jaded Lies, Eyes Dont Lie, and Valium Girl. The ball is rolling and the long awaited reunion is happening.... Does this mean Craig will have to come in from Las Vegas? or will Ice Angel go to Las Vegas and play? Hmmm lets see if Rubin Kinkade still has his touch!
2 new songs added "Treasure Chest" and "Standing Tall" these songs were never finalized, never a final mix or mastering. They were also copied from an 19 year old cassette tape, one other song , an instrumental "Oyster Shuffle" is not posted due to myspace only allowing 6 songs, I will post it next week, removing one of the songs currently listed, they are as raw as it gets, but to me they were great GREAT songs, hope you enjoy!
Ice Angel was formed in late 1989 and broke up in 1991. Due to personal issues amongst the members they decided to split up rather than replace one member. It was a decision made unanimous by the remaining members. Fully knowing the sound would not be the same, they felt no reason to continue since the magic came from the combination of all five of the members.Ice Angel had a diverse range of influences, from Deep Purple, to Stevie Nicks, Rush, ELP, King Crimson and many other artists. The combined mixture of each member's influences gave way to Ice Angel having a unique sound. Bassist Russ Tyler and Drummer John Schwarz were introduced to Howard Nema through the great Craig Keller (alias Rubin Kinkade) they were the final two components to complete Ice Angel. The pair had played together for years, obtaining a mysterious quality to know what each other was about to play before even hearing a note. This complimented the already overwhelming talents of Howard Nema on Lead Guitar, Maria Corbo on Vocals and Keith Ratner playing Keyboards and Piano.Playing in very exclusive theaters and clubs Ice Angel soon had a tremendous following throughout the New York area. With interest from Warner Brothers they decided to go into the studio and record three of their songs. It was an extremely hard choice to pick what three songs to record. The only song that was a "no Brainer" was Johnny, this was one of Ice angels biggest hits, based on true events from a past friendship with Maria Corbo , Johnny struck the hearts of many fans.As the other two songs fell into the list, Ice Angel went into the studio to record a three song demo. As luck may have it, they recorded the songs quicker than expected and had room for one more. A song that was still in the creative stage was decided to be the fourth track. It had freshly been written and had not yet been finalized or rehearsed. The song was Cheating Heart. On one take the band started, recorded and finished the song. (That's why Maria Corbo giggles at the end of the track). The tape was submitted to Warner Brothers and very well received. As luck may have it, this is when the issue came to face the band. And this is when the choice to part rather than replace a member came to life. Each member went their separate ways with the exception of Russ Tyler and John Schwarz who went on to form Permanent Front. It has taken almost 18 years for the original recordings to surface into my hands. I was compelled to at least make a MySpace profile for this beloved time of my life. I hope you enjoy the songs as much as I do.Thank you for visiting this page,
