I'm interested in quite a few things. I love the outdoors. Even though my schedule does not permit me to do as much of the following as I would like, I love mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, canoeing and the like. I enjoy writing and game design and hope to be accomplised with both of those someday. I love to cook, along with my wife, which could be the reason we started our own personal chef business. I enjoy roleplaying games, (not all, a select few). I love to travel, particularly now that I have someone to share it with. I enjoy martial arts. I studied for a while but had to give it up to pay bills once I got married. Hopefully soon I will be able to return. I love history, science, and geography. I study theology. Politics are cool but at the same time are sickening to witness. Kids are great. I don't have any, but enjoy time spent with my friends kids. I consider myself an optimistic realist. I don't mind being in the background but will take center stage when someone shows their inability to lead or handle a situation. I try to be a good friend. I am very opinionated but am slow to take offense. Well, that's me!
I'd like to meet:
All of the characters bouncing around in my head that seem more real then the stories make them. Also, I wouldn't mind meeting a street full of zombies, but only if I had my BOOM STICK!!!
Music:
I believe that pretty much every genre of music has produced really good stuff. The only possible exception to this is 'gangsta rap'. The themes are in my opinion one of the top ten underminers of western civilization. Other then the aforementioned, I listen to all types. My iPod is truly a melting pot. Some of my favorites would include U2, Jack Johnson, David Lanz, Rascall Flats, Guster, Sarah Mclaughlan, Loreena McKennit, Great big Sea, Kenny Chesney, David Grey, Gavin Degraw, and the like. I also really like MLC, a cover band that often plays at irish pubs. I also am single-handedly trying to convince my friends that there are quite a few sub-genres of country that are not often heard in New England that might surprise them. During December I love Christmas music. Not the R & B crap, but actual Christmas music. Oh, and if it has a twelve string guitar, mandolin, or hammer dulcimer in it I probably would like it.
Movies:
If you're going to spend millions on a movie and expect me to spend two hours of my life watching it, make it good, make it fun, make it cool. I usually don't like life dramas. I don't like films with nudity. I don't like films that cheapen the human condition. Okay, enough preaching. Lord of the Rings is absolutly awesome. Star Wars, the origional three, not the digital cartoon facsimilies that Lucas conned us with, Indiana Jones, National Treasure, Harry Potter, Incredibles, Last Samurai (even though I normally cannot stand Tom Cruise), Seven Samurai, Other side of heaven, Patriot, Unbreakable, O brother, where art thou. You get the idea.
Television:
I don't watch too much television. My views for it are much the same as for movies. The difference being that movies revolve around my schedule. TV can control your life. There are much better things to do with a TV, like watch movies and play video games. Most TV is far too depressing for me. The best show right now is heroes. Drive would have been a close second if Fox could ever get their act together. I also like cartoons. When I walk away from them I don't feel like I just witnessed a murder. I do like Lost for it's originality. I like Kim Possible, Naruto, and Avatar. Other then cartoons, I like Mythbusters, Iron Chef, Ghosthunters, Dirty Jobs, and pretty much everything on food network, execpt Emeril. He's a dink. TV however, does not run my life. Now if you'll excuse me, my show's coming on...
Books:
Not only do I enjoy reading books, I enjoy writing them, both my independent projects as well as my co-authoring project that has been going on for fifteen years. Just like music, each genre of book has produced classics as well as kindling. I love Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Rawlings, and other good fantasy. Unfortunately, much in this area is lacking. I like classic literature, books on archology and theology. I like Agatha Christy and Sherlock Holmes. I use an awful lot of cookbooks but somehow I don't think that counts. I like science and cosmology books. In short, I like books.
Heroes:
Most of the people I would regard as a hero are either fictional or dead. To generalize a hero, I truely appriciate firefighters, armed forces, and average people who just do what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, and dosen't look for a reward.
