My Interests

The more my eyes are open, the more I see.. A leaf color on a particular day, a pattern on the floor, a person running by all dressed in red, the clouds from 30,000 miles up, mist rolling across low hills, baskets of exotic fruits in the sun, wind blowing a plastic bag around, someone standing on the street corner in the sun with a bright umbrella, steamed buns in a window, a glass of tea on a dark table, kids doing synchronized dance and song in a courtyard, a row of foreign lettering, windows opening up and displacing the light, shadows creating pattern, lights on calm water, a tiny house perched on a hilltop, a row cans on a shelf, a brown leaf falling against a brilliant blue sky backdrop, a mess of garbage with a cute bird on top of it, dipped apples drying on a tray, ornaments upon ornaments upon ornaments, daily meelee....

I'd like to meet:

Is there anyone else doing some fashion/apparel/fashion photography networking on MySpace?? Seems like it is more for band fan base building... But I digress.. Really, it would be nice to see some friend requests from other fashionistas! Do not get me wrong, music is also important, but 5 bad requests a day is not what I have in mind.

Music:

Music has played a part in shaping my life and defining part of my personality. I play certain artists/music while I am creating or sewing and certain other artists/music while I am working at my desk. Music helps me focus.

Selections from my iPod: Arovane, Andrew Coleman, Antonelli Electric, Apparat, Baier/Box, B. Fleishman, Beck, Boards of Canada, Christian Kleine, Crunch, Deaf Center, Detalles, Differnet, DNTEL, Ellen Allien, Flaming Lips, Four Tet, Funkstorung, Junior Boys, Khonnor, Kiyo, Kraftwerk, Lali Puna, Ladytron, Lusine, Matias Aguayo, Matthew Dear, Midaircondo, Mouse on Mars, Mr. Projectile, Mum, My Morning Jacket, Nautilis, Pan American, Plaid, Portishead, Radiohead, Rafael Anton Irisarri, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Sigur Ros, Superpitcher.

Movies:

I'll name some Directors: Gus van Sandt, Ridley Scott, Wong Kar Wai, Stephen Soderbergh, Peter Hyams, Ang Lee, I have seen a lot of Asian films. Now that I am reading this again, HOW can I forget to list Luc Besson and David Lynch!! I like animae too. I also like a plethora of films strictly for set design and costuming as sometimes films are more of a visual feast than a great storyline (ie: Bram Stokers "Dracula" (well that is a good movie too), "The Cell", Lemony Snickets "A Series of Unfortunate Events", "Mirror Mask").
New: I really just want to watch the new transformers movie right about now... I watched "Pan's Labyrinth" recently which is finally out on DVD. Fantastic costume and make-up!! I am always a sucker for storytelling within film... If there ever are times when I wish I would have kept up with learning spanish, it is times like when watching this film. I could not hear the rhyming within the dialog because I do not know spanish. Perhaps someday...

Television:

Not into regular tele, unless Heros is on, and I get the feeling that I missed the season opener.. BOO! Also anxiously waiting for the next season of Big Love and Rome to be released on DVD; whereupon we shall sit and watch the episodes back to back and then wait again... If someone would relinquish the 1st disc that is...

Books:

Anything interesting about ancient history, mythology and folklore to books like the "Tao of Pooh". I also like witty literature like books written by Tom Robbins for instance. Currently reading (and still trying to get through it) "The Agony and The Ecstacy" along with a tourist guide of Michelangelo's work. I just saw a "chinese hipster" with a tee on with the Agony and the Ecstacy written with Sleepy Hollow-esce lettering. I also enjoy reading magazines, like Surface, NYLON, ID, the Economist, National Geographic, the New Yorker, when I find my attention span more suited to short *short* stories, articles and pretty pictures. I would really like to come up with a clever caption for the comic on the back page.. That would be friggin funny!

Heroes:

I feel that I need to read something about a person who has really done something other than what basketball/baseball/football player has married who and how big the wedding was and with some number of security guarding against paparazzi!! I wonder, how much does the highest grant for scientific advancement garner it's recipient against how much a baseball persona gets. The latter is boggling.. 90 MILLION to play a sport??
