Mr Nugget

Born June mid 70's in Birmingham UK England - Nugget grew into a household of music ranging from dub, ska, roots, jazz, raregrooves, reggae, disco and 80s soul. Influenced by his sister and father music was destined to become an integral factor in his life. Hip hop was his first love, such as artists like Big Daddy Kane, Eric B and Rakim, Hijack,Monie Love, caveman, Demon Boyz, The Sindecut (Big up my cuz Spikey Tee)Public Enemy, Nas and the early house pioneers such as Farley Jack Master Funk and Steve Silk Hurley. Having embarked on a dj career from as early as 9 years old, he began mastering the art of mixing, cutting and scratching by sneakily using his fathers precious records and turntables whilst he was at work asking his sisters to keep a look out just in case he came back early off the nightshift and caught him(a whooping was definetly at hand if he got caught). He began collecting hip hop and funk vinyl from the age of 11, taking up odd jobs to empower his love for music. His first residency was at the age of 15 playing hip hop and new jack swing for an under 18s rave in his hometown.Whilst acquiring the skills of a dj through his early years, he also realised he had the ability to write and perform on stage or in the studio, forming multiple rap crews with his closest friends. In his twenties he transformed his poetic skills to the UK garage scene which enabld him to tour extensively throughout the U.K +overseas with the 2 step duo the B15 Project-acompanying the likes of Jamaican stars Chrissy D and Lady G, Shola Ama and Robbie craig.His love for House and anything with a groove has acquired over a number of years due to the circle of industry people and peers he has embarked on and worked with, such as Andy Ward (Soul Central) Noel Mckoy, Colonel Red (Bugz In The Attic) etc etc and month by month, day by day he began collecting vinyl again. Spinning regularly in bars and clubs throughout Birmingham.. In the space of of a few years he has seen his his dj career grow emphatically, A relocation to the capital, London in 2004 has helped where he has now been targeted by an agent and has since played in several major clubs in London the U.K and worldwide such as, Rouge London's biggest club to date, MissMoneyPennys After Parties, Club Embassy(Manila), Trap (London), The Rhythm Factory, Ministry Of Sound, Selfridges for 'Levis Red Tab' launch, WKD Drinks Vodka Red UK Launch/Scratch DjTour, Usc UK Clothing Launch, Club Embassy/Manila Philippines, Bombar and Melt in Brazil, Ice Kool (Cyprus), Club Destiny (Greece) Castle Club (Cyprus)l e.t.c, e.t.cA major factor in Nuggets turntable awareness and ability is that he is a self taught scratch dj, with an acquired taste for all genres of music. Deep, funky and soulful house being the main ingredients with a sprinkling of broken beats to add to the main course - Not forgetting those jazzy hip hop/neo soul moments.. Music production is next on his ever fulfilling musical journey and he has teamed with a well known producer to collaborate on future projects....
