Let's see...what 'about me'? Listen to what I listen to, and what I perform and you'll find your answers. I'm easy to get along with and am known to have quite a cynical view on many things. Life's too short. Shoot me straight, and I'll do you the same.
My music interest is not hard to sum up. I love good music period. Of course I also love Country, Honky Tonk & Juke Joint Swing. I prefer live recordings/performances hands down. The cream rises to the top when things go live, it's as simple as that.
My early childhood was mostly in New Orleans and I was singing Mardi Gras Mambo in kindergarten. Started playing the clarinet at around 7 years old and played for 13 years. Played marching snare drum for 6 years. Moved to the World Famous Hickman, Ar. in 1987. This was when the population was around 15, but now is around 18 if you include the horses. Hickman International airport is usually only busy for crop dusting. Hickman is about 10 miles east of Blytheville, Ar., off of I-55.
I've chopped cotton, tromped cotton, driven tractor, big weeded, burned wheat fields, and a long list of other enjoyable farm stuff. I will assure you that driving tractor in mid-July for 15 hrs and no canopy or air is not enjoyable, but you have to do what you have to do. And I'll tell ya, 'If that ain't country, I'll kiss your ass.' My Grandfather from the World Famous Glennonville, MO. (between Campbell and Malden) made sure that my parents and I knew my tractor driving skills were awful. He wanted me to go to college. College in my eyes was mostly just a lesson in finishing something you start. Beyond a hell of a lot of keg parties and wild times, I'm not sure I learned much in college. Life will teach you plenty without having to turn in term papers!
I'll be on the road in 2009! I look forward to seeing ya'll out there! Be sure to watch the "Official Johnny Wright, Jr. Band Page" for Official Announcements, Tour Event Dates and Music Releases.
