Hogan Says! is a rock band that tries to involve many different styles and genres of music into their own, without ever straying too far from their rock roots. It is also very important to them to let their music grow and evolve, usually leaving room in their sets for improvisation to take place. Equally important is to not let their spontaneous moments become redundant, or boring. The band is made up of three very different people, each contributing their own personalities and styles into the band. There is Maurice (Kevin) Hogan on guitar, who has a great ear for music, and very strong song writing skills. He is an excellent guitar player that not only contributes great rhythm parts, but also does many very tasteful leads. On lead guitar and vocals is Chris Emmerson. Chris tries to come up with melodies that are unique and catchy. He applies this same approach to his lead guitar playing. His singing style nicely accompanies the melodic nature of their music. On bass is Dan Zylinski. He is an extremely talented musician, putting down solid, super funky bass lines. On the drums is Mike Higgins. His energy and dynamic style give the band a solid foundation. Hogan Says! is a very young band, but their hard work ethic, and consistency indicates otherwise. They are also very open minded, having played shows sharing the bill with not only other rock bands, but also hip hop, reggae, and solo acoustic acts. Their goal is to always make good music that their audiences can enjoy and relate to, while at the same time constantly grow and keep it interesting for themselves.
