The vocalist/lyricist/songwriter/femme fatale...born of Finnish descent...is based in Los Angeles, CA. Some years ago, Cora had envisioned P R O J E C T * M A N I K as an outlet to dedicate her energy to making music - with various producers & musicians. The goal being, to use her voice and prolific writing in as many different genres & styles as possible - reaching out to others around the globe through the power of music.Manik's artistry has been rapidly growing and musical endeavors expanding - thanks to a couple of catalystic encounters. She held a brief, yet compelling internship with L.A. based producer Carmen Rizzo (2005-2006) and then turned attention toward the project Blue Velvet. This collaboration effort with b e t a f i s h (Jed Smith) had a great hand in shaping Manik's sound and direction - as she had free range in experimenting with her writing and vocal styles. Blue Velvet experienced an intermission in 2006, but has since resumed - full speed ahead. (See www.myspace.com/bluevelvetbetafish for more details.)With ignited drive and an arsenal of songs birthed from daily writing sessions over the past year, she has refocused her path to P R O J E C T * M A N I K. Collaborators will include Colin C, who produced “Jaded – Reprise” for his album, pending release; as well as Chantal Menard – a truly amazing artist and pianist. Others will be announced as the tracks evolve and solidify. It is each musician’s contrasting background that promises to make this project/album truly unique in it’s eclecticism.M A N I K envisions the project extending to other vessels of self-expression: art, dance & fashion.
