Am I pointing the finger? Yes. This is ALL OF OUR faults. We the collective conscious. We the SHEEPLE, that are perfectly comfortable in this little structured world that THEY have created for us. Working two jobs, living paycheck to paycheck. Sending our children off to be cared for by a stranger, because we can't afford NOT to work. Consuming our microwaved, genetically engineered food, because we have no time to cook. Watching back-to-back meaningless sitcoms that have ruined our family environment, belittled our societal structure and depleted our self control. Sipping down that second glass of whatever you've got, hoping to erase every inhumane portrait of violence that eludes your rational mind and jars your compassionate consciousness. WE ALL have been complacent because that is how they want us to be. We HAVE BEEN controlled. We have not known the law because we have been instructed outside of it. We have not been told the truth, yet that does not absolve you of your responsibility to this nation...or to the world.
If we choose to do nothing while generations of civilizations are dying in an illegal unjustified war, WE and only WE will be held accountable...no matter what kind of crimes this administration has committed. The government should be afraid of it's people...not the other way around. We must choose to do the right thing, even if we are labeled hippies or communists and are told to enlist or leave the country. No thanks, I think I'll stay - AND FIGHT TO THE DEATH if I must because I'm tired of waiting for the silence - waiting for the noise - waiting for a conceivable answer from our government.
We are at WAR yet there is no pride in our fight. We are NOT proud of ourselves and this illegal unjustifiable war. We have LOST OUR HONOR as Americans and our dignity as human beings.
Where has our pride gone America? I’m not talking about the kind of pride you wear on your sensitive little shirt sleeve like the sheeple they want you to believe you are...waving your tiny flag around and displaying your "Support Our Troops" yellow magna-ribbon on the back of your overpriced, overrated, gas guzzling double cab truck!
I am speaking of GENUINE, HONORABLE, EARNED, PRIDE!
Most of our soldiers "believe" that they are fighting a legal and ethical war, because they are NOT PERMITTED to believe otherwise. (at least so long as they are enlisted) When a brave member of our military does choose to speak up or refuse to participate in this illegal war they are demoted, detained and treated as traitors and criminals or worse yet, they are simply extinguished. Our soldiers need our support here at home by us being willing to fight our government for the truth and THEIR FREEDOM...as they "believe" they are fighting for ours.
Where is your pride for your country and what it was founded on?!? Where is your pride in OUR troops? Will you dishonor their memories, their beliefs, by sitting around on your ass all day simply reading about the atrocities and never taking action?!? Or will you stand for something? Will you make a difference? Will you take you future into your own hands because you know where you come from and what you stand for...what our flag stands for...what our country once stood for? FREEDOM!
YOU ARE NOT ALONE--BUT IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.
It is time to regain our self independance. Feel that pride swell in your heart, not your boastful chest...swell your soul with a pride that brings tears to your eyes when you hear the echo of a bugle playing Taps.
A pride that is not presumed because of the Bush Administration’s status with the World Bank or the Middle East or Israel or the illegal Federal Reserve. Rather feel the kind of pride that is bestowed on you because of your willingness to HEAR AND BE HEARD during our nation's final hour!
Ask yourself: Why do we fight? Freedom? Freedom to begin a war? Your freedom is your soul and no one can take that away from you - not even the President of the United States of America.

An Appeal for Redress from the War in Iraq
As a patriotic American proud to serve the nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to support the prompt withdrawal of all American military forces and bases from Iraq. Staying in Iraq will not work and is not worth the price. It is time for U.S. troops to come home.
Lt. Ehren Watada
Lt. Ehren Watada, 28, a Japanese-American who was raised in Honolulu, joined the army in March 2003 after graduating from Hawaii Pacific University. He said the September 11th terrorist attacks had inspired him to "serve my country in a time of need in what many of us felt was a war on terrorism". He maintains that sacrifice has been betrayed by the Bush administration.
His offer to serve in Afghanistan or resign his commission was rejected by the army, who say it is unacceptable for officers to pick and choose their assignments. Justifying his objection to the Iraq war as a matter of conscience, Lt Watada said: "No crime is greater than to lie over something as grave as war. I felt that was a wrong I could not condone."
Lt Watada's defence team intends to subpoena witnesses – including "decision-makers" – whose testimony will, they claim, demonstrate the war's illegality. Lt Watada's lawyers argue that the war was illegitimate because it was not explicitly endorsed by the United Nations Security Council and because Congressional authorization was based upon the faulty premise that Saddam Hussein's regime had weapons of mass destruction and was connected to al-Qa'eda. His defence team also plans to cite the Nuremberg tribunals' ruling that following orders from a superior officer does not exculpate soldiers from the consequences of their actions. He said the best way for the war to end would be if soldiers refused to serve. (cite Alex Massie)
Pat and Kevin Tillman - Brothers...Friends
It is Pat’s birthday on November 6, and elections are the day after. It gets me thinking about a conversation I had with Pat before we joined the military. He spoke about the risks with signing the papers. How once we committed, we were at the mercy of the American leadership and the American people. How we could be thrown in a direction not of our volition. How fighting as a soldier would leave us without a voice...until we got out.
Much has happened since we handed over our voice:
Somehow we were sent to invade a nation because it was a direct threat to the American people, or to the world, or harbored terrorists, or was involved in the September 11 attacks, or received weapons-grade uranium from Niger, or had mobile weapons labs, or WMD, or had a need to be liberated, or we needed to establish a democracy, or stop an insurgency, or stop a civil war we created that can’t be called a civil war even though it is. Something like that.
Somehow our elected leaders were subverting international law and humanity by setting up secret prisons around the world, secretly kidnapping people, secretly holding them indefinitely, secretly not charging them with anything, secretly torturing them. Somehow that overt policy of torture became the fault of a few "bad apples" in the military.
Somehow back at home, support for the soldiers meant having a five-year-old kindergartener scribble a picture with crayons and send it overseas, or slapping stickers on cars, or lobbying Congress for an extra pad in a helmet. It’s interesting that a soldier on his third or fourth tour should care about a drawing from a five-year-old; or a faded sticker on a car as his friends die around him; or an extra pad in a helmet, as if it will protect him when an IED throws his vehicle 50 feet into the air as his body comes apart and his skin melts to the seat.
Somehow the more soldiers that die, the more legitimate the illegal invasion becomes.
Somehow American leadership, whose only credit is lying to its people and illegally invading a nation, has been allowed to steal the courage, virtue and honor of its soldiers on the ground.
Somehow those afraid to fight an illegal invasion decades ago are allowed to send soldiers to die for an illegal invasion they started.
Somehow faking character, virtue and strength is tolerated.
Somehow profiting from tragedy and horror is tolerated.
Somehow the death of tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of people is tolerated.
Somehow subversion of the Bill of Rights and The Constitution is tolerated.
Somehow suspension of Habeas Corpus is supposed to keep this country safe.
Somehow torture is tolerated.
Somehow lying is tolerated.
Somehow reason is being discarded for faith, dogma, and nonsense.
Somehow American leadership managed to create a more dangerous world.
Somehow a narrative is more important than reality.
Somehow America has become a country that projects everything that it is not and condemns everything that it is.
Somehow the most reasonable, trusted and respected country in the world has become one of the most irrational, belligerent, feared, and distrusted countries in the world.
Somehow being politically informed, diligent, and skeptical has been replaced by apathy through active ignorance.
Somehow the same incompetent, narcissistic, virtueless, vacuous, malicious criminals are still in charge of this country.
Somehow this is tolerated.
Somehow nobody is accountable for this.
In a democracy, the policy of the leaders is the policy of the people. So don’t be shocked when our grandkids bury much of this generation as traitors to the nation, to the world and to humanity. Most likely, they will come to know that “somehow†was nurtured by fear, insecurity and indifference, leaving the country vulnerable to unchecked, unchallenged parasites.
Luckily this country is still a democracy. People still have a voice. People still can take action.
It can start after Pat’s birthday.

This dream I have has lit a fire under my ass right now--I moved to Austin because I feel there's a better music scene here--SXSW BABY--definitely evidence of that!
