Big La, Todd Kelley (Flowink)

I'm on my 2nd marriage, Hip-Hop's my first wife...

About Me

..
The Cliffnotes: Thirty-something writer/producer/designer/, ghetto-turned enlightened negro, married, techno-geek. I'm a laid back, comedic (but not funny), intelligent (but not smart) musician (but not musical) who (in the right light) can be non-hideous by today's ostentatious standards.
Other Thoughts: I'm a person with a lot to say and do, but too shy to really put it all out there. I grew up pathologically shy, so just communicating on an everyday basis can be a bit of a task.
Writing: I love writing. Not in the sense that i'd like it to be a job. But I love trying to translate my thoughts and feelings to paper. More times than not, it comes out totally different and I learn more through the process.
Music: I listen to music all the time. I created music from samples. It's what I am. Music is my first love and rules my every thought, hope and dream. I can't understand how people don't live with a soundtrack constantly playing in their head. To me it sounds frightening, like losing your site or hearing. You can take anything away from me and I will recover. Take music from my life and you've destroyed me.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: toddkelley.net
Band Members: Two halves of the same person:

Big La (The Hip-Hop side)
Todd (The Soul side)
Always at war with each other...
Influences: My sound in reminiscent of the Mid 90's. I primarily use samples, just because i love the sound. You can recreate melodys and drums all you want. But you can't recreate the sound of the time, or the way the mic'd the equipment, or the electronics used back then. There's a certain sound that you get from samples that can't be duplicated.

Here's a list of my influences.. keeping me open with their hotness. Some you know, some you may not know (but need to go check out!)
