About Me

Been playing drums for 25 years. Can't imagine my life without music. Over the years, I've been lucky enough to work with some really great songwriters. The two that impacted my life the most are Steve Tagliere and Kevin Ridel. Both are awesome at what they do. Back in the mid-90's I played in an L.A. band called Gingersol, which was lead by Steve T. It was then that I was introduced to bands like the Replacements, Wilco, Big Star, early Goo Goo Dolls, Soul Asylum, Bob Dylan, and countless others. Later, I hooked up with Kevin and played with him for 9 years in L.A.-based bands Ridel High, Peel, and AM Radio. All were lucky enough to get record-deals along the way, but personal dreams of touring and making a living playing music were finally realized in AM Radio. During my 8 tours with AMR, we played everything from the 100-seat "Green Door" in Oklahoma City to 10,000-seat Budokan in Tokyo. Nothing better in life than touring and performing... NOTHING! (thanks Rivers).

My Interests

Playing music, creating music, listening to music, snowboarding, listening to supporters of the current administration explain its merrits while maintaining a straight face...

I'd like to meet:

People that like music and appreciate talking about it. I dig learning all the six-degrees of separation stories of bands, songs, producers, etc. People with which music plays an important role in some aspect of their lives: musician, collector, songwriter, DJ, producer, or just like taking a late summer trip to Black Rock City each year, are usually the easiest to connect with. I love running into people who like Catherine Wheel and also believe their inability to be in the public's consiecse a bit more is quite an indictment on the business of music. Also, anybody that can give me lifetime tickets to all concert and sporting events in the Los Angeles area...

Music:

All-time favorites are probaby Pink Floyd, Rush, Catherine Wheel, Bruce Springsteen, U2, Cheap Trick , Led Zeppelin, and Smashing Pumpkins. I Think "Pet Sounds" is one of the most brilliant albums ever written and recorded, although I wouldn't place the Beach Boys in my Top-10. Recent listens include - Catherine Wheel, Richard Hawley, Crowded House and lots of Beatles. I'm on a huge Beatles kick right now.

Movies:

Some favorites include It's A Wonderful Life, Godfather I & II, All The President's Men, Goodfellas, Network, Almost Famous, Dazed & Confused, Swingers, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, The Sting, 61*, The Verdict, High Fidelity, Crimes and Misdemeanors. I seem to be able to watch the remake of Ocean's 11 countless times even though I wouldn't place it on a "favorites" list. Question... Is Godfather III really THAT bad???

Television:

Been known to watch Real Time, Entourage, The Sopranos and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Recently, I thought Studio 60 and The Black Donnelly's were great shows, but apparently NBC didn't agree. If I'm up early enough, I might watch one of those exercise shows where 12 girls and the token guy will do aerobics in some faux-exotic place like the pool at the Luxor in Vegas or some resort hotel in Tucson.A long time ago I thought "The Young Ones" was cool, especially when Neil would wear a 2112 shirt and reference Hawkwind and Marillion.

Books:

Illusions, Ghost Rider, Fargo Rock City, and John Wooden's book, aptly titled "Wooden"

Heroes:

Good Bowie tune. Gotta love the Berlin Trilogy...
