About Me

While Miya Collins was working on a her smooth jazz vocal album she ended up composing a whole bunch of tunes that didn't fit on that particular project. The tunes basically ended up being more "groove-orientated." Hence, Paradise Groove was born. The Paradise Groove project primarily focuses on Electronica, Acid Jazz, Breakbeat, Big Beat, Hiphop, Disco, House, and Funk elements. Having a passion for what happens behind the scenes in the music industry, this project intends to showcase her skills as DJ, Producer and Musician. Bringing together an intriguing mix of select samples combined with her own instrumentation.
Paradise Groove or P.G. is a native of the Seattle area. She was first exposed to music at a very young age, often hearing the strains of: The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Cream, Mahaila Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Pat Benatar, James Brown, Jethro Tull, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, B.B. King, Bach, Tchikosky and many others, coming from her father's extensive vinyl collection. She has been writing music since she was 5 years old and won a district level compeition for her neo classical piano composition,"Dream of the World in Harmony" at the age of 9 and has built quite a large catalogue of unreleased and yet to be heard material including a symphonic work. "It's always been hard for me to let people hear my music, "I fall in the catagory of: I'm really critical of my work and maybe that's my achilles heel, I"m not the kind of person that goes here listen to this, it's always been easier for me to promote other people's music." Her high school years were filled with awards, accolades, praise from her peers and scholarships for her vocal and violin abilities: She was selected for All-NW Choir (several states), All-State Choir, All-State Jazz Choir and All-State Orchestra and she was fortunate to receive Musical Scholarships to both schools she appiled for: Western Washington University and Pacific Luthern University for violin and voice. "It's funny I always wanted to be a horn player when I was little girl but my parents were like well your brother has this a quarter size violin that he's not using, so here, But I've grew to appreciate it." She has headed her own Jazz Trio, shared the stage with notable artists and continues to be in demand as a DJ frequently getting booked for club gigs as well as steady stream of private and corporate parties due to her knowledge and love of music spanning several genres and times. You can find her vocal contributions on two internationally distributed releases and now she is ready to expose and release her own productions to a worldwide audience, and hopefully somebody out there will be listening and feeling what she has to offer.
