for more info. In the broadest sense, Why You Headed West, by San Diego indie-pop outfit Call Down Fire is an album that explores the struggle for meaning and purpose. More specifically, it is an investigation into the heart of human reality, truth, and the longing for something more; or the lack thereof. Call Down Fire captivate listeners on these 10 tracks with their wall of delayed guitars, analog synths, computer glitchery, intricate beats, and a grooving bottom end that serve as a launching pad for a sweeping tenor and oft-kilter harmonies.Call Down Fire do not write stories in the conventional singer/songwriter vein, but rather create honest portraits of tension that every man and woman can relate to. Despite the often dark topics explored on this album, the band manages in both content and mood to bring a ray of light. In the midst of the struggle of life, there is hope.
Call Down Fire has gained the reputation of putting on a great live show, and has quickly become a club favorite of well known San Diego bands. 2007 looks to be a big year for the band. The track "Drifting/ Drowning" will be featured in the upcoming compilation CD, "San Diego Soundscape," with 10,000 copies being produced and distributed by the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau . The CDF track, "Cradle Song," is also set to be featured in the Hi Concept Productions feature film, "Eleven."
With a growing fan base, the help of local radio and national podcasts, Call Down Fire's brand of introspective and triumphant pop should garner them a new level of success.
