BE FUCKING CREATIVE...INVENT A PERVERSION

About Me

Roger Lee Strosky was born on November 27, 1953 in Rapid City South Dakota. Growing up being greatly influenced by his father, Gene Strosky, an accomplished 'Jazz Drummer/Percussionist'. He started out on the trumpet before taking on several instruments, including drums and guitar, both of which he still plays, before choosing THE BASS as his first and main instrument.
Throughout his formative years Rog lived in Los Angeles California, Cleveland Ohio, and Chicago Illinois. While growing up in these Great Musical Cities he witnessed countless performances by many Top-Named Artists from the Jazz, Swing, Blues and Rock Fields which contributed a great many influences to his overall development as a musician. It was while residing in the Chicago area that he acquired his first bass on Valentines Day 1967, at the Ripe Old Age of Thirteen.
Throughout the years Rog has played almost every kind of music Imaginable and has done so at either 'Local Venues' or 'On The Road' in which he has toured in excess of 33 States and 3 Canadian Provinces extensively throughout his 40 year career as a pro bassist, He also resided in the Seattle Washington area throughout the late 70's playing the area and opening venues for groups such as Black Oak Arkansas...Heart...Montrose...Randy Hansen and Many Many Others.
Rog re-located from Billings Montana to the Phoenix Area in early March of 1990. His first few years there he worked in Pro Staging and later, Pro Audio Manufacturing, managing the carpet department at Genz-Benz Enclosures. Thru the mid to late 90's he worked with Phoenix Famed Boot Hiller Band for nearly five years setting down as the house band at the Stardust Lounge in Glendale Arizona. Two years prior to that with Award Winning Fiddler/Vocalist Doug Deatherage and the year before that with Accomplished Award Winning Vocalist Vikki Rae Jordan. Other groups included Midnite Canyon and the Vigilante Band. He has also played venues in the Phoenix Area such as Blockbuster Desert Sky Pavillion, Cooperstown, Country Thunder and Celebrity Theater.
Thru February and March 2002, Rog toured Norway, Sweden and Denmark with Phoenix Arizona Blues-Rock Artist Chuck Hall playing over 30 shows throughout a seven-week period which also included the Karlskoga Blues Festival in Karlskoga Sweden and the Lillehammer Blues Festival in Lillehammer Norway.
2002 thru 2004 he worked with Alternative Country Artist Harry Luge which took him to Festivals such as Country Thunder USA in Florence Arizona and Twin Lakes Wisconsin, and the Kansas Stampede in Manhattan Kansas, sharing stages with many top names in the recording industry. He has also performed at the incredible and famous Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville Tennessee.
Next, Rog took a break from the road and worked locally, subbing and gigging with a few local groups before deciding at 51 to pursue his other passion...Art and Design. He obtained an Associates Degree in Visual Communications from Collins College in October of 2006.
It was during the later part of his schooling that he teamed up with the Phoenix area rock group The Visitors. Playing venues such as the AZ Hog Rally in Williams Arizona and the Superstition Harley Davidson Grand Opening. Venues also included many of the clubs in the Sedona and Prescott Valley areas of the Great State of Arizona.
In September 2007 Rog left Arizona and re-located to the state of Wisconsin where he now resides in the Green Bay area. He currently plays bass and sings with the Annie Rose Band.

NEW STUFF COMING SOON!!!
These songs are a compilation of things done over the past few years and some quite recently.
Some are instrumentals, some were/are destined to have vocal tracks and yet uncompleted,
though I still wanted to share with you what I have been up to as far as some new ideas are concerned.
I did all of the guitars and of course, the basses.
Drum machine tracks are loops on all of these as my goal was not to sit for hours on end, which I have done before,
and program drum parts in detail.
I wanted to use a basic drum loop in order to get the song idea down and also to see how I could make the parts at times have the feel of weaving thru the groove
If you know what I mean?
Some of these later tunes I have done over the past year or so were also a challenge in that I wanted to see how quickly I could come up with an idea and execute it and get it down
before moving on to the next one.
Didn't want to beat a dead horse forever for perfection
cuz it NEVER is.
So on that note, the quality may not be absolutely supurb,
but the idea is there.
I guess thats what some would call a demo,
But I just call it MUSIC!!!
PLAYER SET TO PLAY IN RANDOM ORDER WITH TRACK INFO LISTED BELOW
SWEET TALK TRACK LISTING:
1) AZ TWO STEP
Recorded Summer 2007
While still living in Phoenix, this is an instrumental piece which was one of those "how fast can I come up with it" ideas. Bass used is my White P-Bass "Sweet P"
which is passive with a single
Seymour Duncan Quarter-Pounder precision pickup.
2) NEVER SAY NEVER
Recorded Summer 2007
In Phoenix also. No lyrics yet but have somewhat of a vocal idea for it. Kind of along the lines of what Gary Cherone was doing during the Extreme/Pornograffiti album era.
Bass is my Cheap-Asss Chinese SX 5-string P-Bass with
Jazz Bass Pickups and it's all passive.
No overdrive here, just fresh D'Addario Roundwounds
and actually this bass sounds and plays really good.
I play it a lot live and it's really light for a fiver.
3) CALL OF THE ANGELS
Recorded February of 2007
This was a tribute to my Mom who passed away in January 2007.
I wrote the piano part in GarageBand and then added 7
(the perfect number)
fretless bass parts.
Added a few choir samples at the end...And thats It!!!
Played my old Aria Pro ll 5-string fretless on these tracks.
I Love You Mom...This one's For You!
4) A LITTLE WHISKEY
Originally Recorded in 2004
No vocals on it yet but have had lyrics for some time. It is a bit of tongue in cheek humor that coincides with the old addage
" The Drunker You Get...The Better She Looks"
phrase and I'm sure many of us can
understand/identify with that one.
Multiple over-layed bass tracks including my
Dean Rhapsody 12 string bass which I no longer have.
God I miss that thing!!!
5) WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION
Recorded in 2005
When I was going to design school. Bet you can't guess what this is about. Have lyrics for it also but need someone with a heavy voice like Glen Hughes or Dio or something like that for it to be right. Could also maybe use a guitar solo in the middle section ala George Lynch? It's an ass-kicker.
Played "Sweet P" once again on this one
with the same overdrive setting.
When it comes to straight out rock,
Precisions still pretty much rule in my book.
6) SWEET TALK
Also Recorded in 2005
Sort of a modern day takeoff on a 50's or early 60's theme with a little Beatles and Joe Walsh style guitar thrown in.
Not comparing myself to Joe Walsh as a guitarist by any means,
but I know that sound style.
Also have lyrics for this one and yes, they are a bit syrupy,
but weren't a lot of those kinds of songs?
Thats the idea numbskull !!!
Once again, thats "Sweet P" layin' down the groove.
7) CUT THE CHEESE
Recorded in 2007
The last song I started recording in Phoenix and the first one finished after moving to Wisconsin, Hence the title. An instrumental groove thing although I do have a few vocal ideas which might be interesting. You never know what might happen!!! Two panned stereo bass tracks are done with my Strat and an octave divider with the one mono bass track in the back center,
And yet again, "Sweet P" Rules on this one.
SOME PEOPLE ASK
What kind of guitar do you record with? This one, my one and only guitar
A modified Squire Pro Tone Strat
I PLAY BASS AND SING WITH THE ANNIE ROSE BAND

SEVEN GREAT GEORGE CARLIN QUOTES...
1 - A house is just a place to keep your stuff while you go out and get more stuff.

2 - Have you ever wondered why Republicans are so interested in encouraging people to volunteer in their communities? It’s because volunteers work for no pay. Republicans have been trying to get people to work for no pay for a long time.

3 - Once you leave the womb, conservatives don’t care about you until you reach military age. Then you’re just what they’re looking for. Conservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers.

4 - The real reason that we can’t have the Ten Commandments in a courthouse: You cannot post “Thou shalt not steal,” “Thou shalt not commit adultery,” and “Thou shalt not lie” in a building full of lawyers, judges, and politicians. It creates a hostile work environment.

5 - When you think about it, attention-deficit order makes a lot of sense. In this country there isn’t a lot worth paying attention to.

6 - Have you noticed that most of the women who are against abortion are women you wouldn’t want to fuck in the first place? There’s such balance in nature.

7 - I wanna live. I don’t wanna die. That’s the whole meaning of life: Not dying! I figured that shit out by myself in the third grade.

I'LL MISS YOU MUCH MR. GEORGE CARLIN...
...YOU WERE THE MAN FOR SURE!!!

I dig exotic birds and my great friends Tom and Michelle have several of them...Congo African Grey, Miligold Macaw, Goffin Cockatoo and Another Cockatiel named Blacktop Birdie.

Anyway, These are my Birds Blacktop Birdie and Harley Man.
Harley is a real character. Aside of his typical cockatiel chatter and voicings, many of which I know he's saying something but I've yet to figure it out. One of his favorite lines is "Whatcha Doin' Nowwwwww" and he also says "WoW" and he says it a lot...Maybe Even Tooo Much Sometimes.

His newest vocalization is "Break It Down...Break It Down Right Nowwwww" ...Thats some real funny shit when he goes off on that.

Tom and Michelle gave Blacktop Birdie to me when I moved. She is a beautiful pearl cockatiel with a black crest. Harley and her get along pretty good most of the time. She likes to be petted and have her neck rubbed, etc. Harley doesn't, he is very independent although he IS bonded very strongly to me.

There are more photos of them in my Pix Folder.

Another interest of mine is cars of course...

I have a fondness for mine
which is a 1991 Cadillac Sedan Deville.
Purchased from a private seller in Surprise Arizona
in November 2006, I'm the third owner.

It is Dove Grey with the then Optional Gold Package
Grey Velour Upholstry
which I like way more than if it were Leather,
it's cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

Power comes from a 4.9 Liter Fuel Injected V-8
Tranny is a 4 spd. Computer Controled Automatic
and she gets much better milage
than you would probably ever imagine...
...That is if you drive it right!

Standing start...0 to 60...Around 8 seconds
Not bad for a 4000+Lb Car!

NASCAR IS COOL...BUT I REALLY PREFER THE IRL SERIES MYSELF

DID YOU KNOW?
If an Indy car and a NASCAR car each ran at full speed, the Indy car would win a 500 mile race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway by 39 laps.

SOME COOL FACTS ABOUT INDY CARS

- Accelerates from 0mph to 100mph in less than 3 seconds

- Are ethanol powered and produce more than 650 horsepower

- Weighs 1530 pounds

- Generates enough downforce (aerodynamic pressure) at 220mph to run upside down on the ceiling without falling off

- Runs on tires that approach 212 degrees (boiling point) at speed, and become tar-like to increase grip on the track

- At 220mph, travel more than the length of a football field every second

- The draft (hole in the air) behind an Indy car is 25 feet long

AGR HAS HAD 32 WINS IN 80 INDYCAR SERIES STARTS

AGR HAS WON 32 OF THE LAST 47 INDYCAR SERIES RACES AS WELL AS 10 OF THE LAST 18

AGR HAS HAD A TOP 5 FINISH IN 75 OF 80 RACES

IN FIVE INDY 500 STARTS, AGR HAS 2 WINS AND 2 SECOND PLACE FINISHES

TEAM AGR COLLECTED A '1-2-3-4' FINISH AT THE INAUGURAL ST. PETE RACE IN 2005
