About Me

Hi, I'm Judah. I like to draw. I want to be an artist some day, but realize I need to learn from others to get there. That's primarily why I launched this page. I enjoy most areas of creativity and practice a number of art disciplines. My ultimate artistic goal is to converge all of my creative energy into film and animation some day, but it's going to take a lot of hard work. I have no desire to go to Hollywood; but rather, will use the internet as my publishing platform. My blog catalogs my artistic journey and occasionally offers commentary on philosophy and religion. My website (www.yourmomlikesmywork.com) explores some of the work I've done through the years and explains my graphic design capabilities. Please do this overly ambitious art dude a favor and join my blog:)

My Interests

Drawing, photography, 3D animation, movies, mma, art or anything creative. I also like to engage my mind with a touch of philosophy, keep in shape with running and hacky sack and maintain my sanity via spending time with my wife and kids.

I'd like to meet:

Artists*, people who are interested in art or those who can broaden my thinking. I'm looking for people to criticize, scrutinize, and dismantle my work until there's nothing left but the good stuff. I'm tired of being just a mediocre artsy guy and want to get excellent, so forget about my feelings. *Musicians, illustrators, videographers, printmakers, painters, sound designers, photographers, art lovers, writers, martial artists or any other creative and/or skilled practitioner.

Music:

Danny Elfman, George Gershwin, Caedmon's Call, Enigma, Mozart, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Chevelle, Project 86, Yanni, Tchaikovsky, Enya, old Jars of Clay, James Newton Howard, Chopin, Joe Satrinani, old Van Halen, Moby, Don Davis, some Deep Forest, Paul Oakenfold....and many more

Movies:

Signs, Original Star Wars Trilogy, LOTR, Back To the Future Trilogy, Napoleon Dynamite

Television:

I don't watch TV b/c I'm too busy trying to figure out how to be an artist. I do rent LOST and watch old Cosby shows on DVD occasionally.

Heroes:

Artists: Rembrandt Van Rijn, Francisco de Goya, Kathy Kollwitz, Robert Rauschenberg, Leonardo da Vinci, Robert Motherwell, James Abbott McNeill Whistler (printmaking works), Albrecht Durer, Norman Rockwell, Jim Jereb. Other artists include Caedmon's Call, Mozart, George Gershwin (musicians), Randy Couture, Kashusi Sacaraba, Cung Le, George St. Pierre (martial artists) M. Night Shyamalan (writer, director) Greg Koukl, C.S. Lewis (authors/philosophers) and Jesus for a catagory of his own (as recorded in the canonical gospels)

Drawing 7: Covert Healer

Continuing with color and loose rendering....I'm not a huge fan of the "comic book" feel, although it's fun to play occasionally. ...

Drawing 6: Escape the Zap

Here's some more color experimentation with a detail. I pushed myself towards a more expressive/loose rendering style for variety. ...

Drawing 5: Growing Habit

Ink pen, ballpoint pen, sharpie, graphite This drawing isn't meant to comment on smoking per se, even though it appears that way. I'm posting the original drawing, then with some photoshop experi...

3D Progress

Instead of pumping out an awsome drawing over Memorial Day weekend, I worked on this graphic. While I think the subject matter is cheesy (can't control the client) I was pleased with the technical res...

Sketch Progress

Since my sketches are supposed to reflect a form of experimentation, or stretching, this one does in two ways. First, it's on a larger scale than I've done in a long time. Second, I took my sharpie an...

More Color Needed

One of the standing criticisms of my work since college is the lack of color use. I've always loved monochromatic work, but one of my goals is to employ color and do it well. This is one of many forth...

No More Ignorance

This isn't a wildly exciting subject, but as I seek to get excellent I've realized the need to really grasp human anatomy....no more ignorance. The back structure has been one that'...
