About Audio Vamp
Leave the same old music you've been listening to behind, and discover the unique sound of Audio Vamp. Their name, Audio Vamp perfectly describes their music, as 'vamp' means a creation or invention. Their sound is eclectic, and traverses different genres, thus creating a sort of musical concoction that band founders, Sharon Zaubi and Jimmy Rutkowski strive to produce. If naming genres were an essential, rock/pop/folk rock would probably be the most sufficient in categorizing their music. Sharon's vocal and writing influences include Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morisette, Sade, Faith Hill, and John Mayer. Jimmy's guitar playing is highly influenced by Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis, James Burton, and Joe Satriani.
Audio Vamp is based out of Milford, Connecticut, and continues to work on their musical career there. Both Sharon and Jimmy have had long musical careers, and have sustained their pursuit of their love of music through Audio Vamp. Jimmy has been playing the guitar since the age of five, and Sharon has been performing since she was seven years old. They both had steady work as musicians throughout the years, Jimmy as a guitar instructor and professional musician, and Sharon playing in several bands, and making her name known as a Madonna impersonator.
The two finally came together in 2006, combining their talents to compose honest, meaningful music. Sharon's writing is not only made up of her deep emotions, but an honest desire for her fans to connect with her music and lyrics. Jimmy's vast experience playing with legendary artists has earned him the nickname, "Professor Jim." "We want to evoke tears, dreams, butterflies, love, memories, motivation, dances, smiles, contemplation... all the dreams of the songwriters throughout the decades," say Jimmy and Sharon. They insist that everything they write and play, are for their fans.
Audio Vamp is currently working on the finishing touches of their first album entitled, Songs From Beachland, which should be released Summer 2008.

The Stories Behind The Songs

Mediocrity:

This is about looking yourself in the mirror and self-evaluating your life. Ever feel like there's gotta be more to life than just the 9 to 5 rat race?? You say to yourself, "How can I keep running on this treadmill, making other people successful, working so hard, trying to make a difference in work, school, the world....while still just living a mediocre existence?" Time keeps passing you by, and you still seem to be stuck in the same place... You see where you'd like to be, and how you'd like to live your dreams, but you can't find your pathway there...and there you are in this mediocre existence....waiting for your time to come to break free from mediocrity. But time waits for no one...so the hands are speaking...reminding you that you have not manifested your dreams and broken free from mediocrity. "More and more it seems to me, there's more than mediocrity... the signs on the wall are plain to see, but the path is in obscurity...slide slide slide by the hands of time, gotta punch that clock again at nine...how long will it take for me to jump that track, finally free?"

Raven Winged Woman:

Many people share the fear of the dark and of night time....which is brought on by the Raven Winged woman, who ominously spreads her wings and blankets the land with darkness...spreading fear and terror into the hearts of many...especially children...and with the darkness comes nightmares and night terrors.. But no matter how much you fear and dread the dark, not matter how much you can beg and plead, it will come again, every night...to bring more tears...as the darkness slips into your bed....and echoes in your head...driving you to insanity, relentlessly. This song was originally written by Jimmy Rutkowski at the age of 8 years old. The chorus music, solo and chorus lyrics were revamped and given a make over prior to recording this version. Sharon reworked the chorus lyrics using her own inner creativity and from some poems in Jimmy's poetry book. The verse lyrics were written in 1985. The solo in the song was a "throw away" take Jimmy did while goofing around in the studio. The two of them loved the overall feel and said it belongs...the rest is history.

Lullabies:

This song was written in 2000 by Jimmy Rutkowski when he was in search of a Pink Floyd sound. He opened up his book of poetry and played a few chords. The song was writtten in minutes.Though there has been much controversy over the meaning of the song, many think it is about child abuse or molestation, the truth Jimmy told in a private interview...the song is simply about the "Sand Man" weaving night terrors into your mind while you sleep. I can see how the song can be percieved so many ways and that is really cool." The song has never changed from its origional write in 2000 However the haunting moans of Sharon were a add to this version in their Beachland Studio.

Lay It Down:

The lyrics to this song were written back in 1998, when Sharon was at the point of breaking up with her boyfriend at the time. There comes a time in many relationships where things are not going so well, the lines of communication are breaking down, and you need to draw the line and say that changes need to be made, or it's over. It's not always easy to do....and our pride can get in the way sometimes...but if you want to save the relationship and make the commitment to work on it, you have to let go of your ego....and lay it all on the line.

Send Me a Miracle:

When you are at your lowest, sometimes it feels like God has abandoned you...and you are all alone. All feels lost, and hopelessness can sink in...desperation fills your heart, and you are at the point of just giving up...so you reach out and pray for a Miracle to happen in your life. Whatever the cause of your pain is....when it feels really hopeless....it's time to reach out to God, or your higher power to send a miracle to lift you up...to set you free..to help you get back on your feet. Everyone can use a Miracle now and then, because life can throw some hard punches...and sometimes you need a little help from above.

Tell The World:

Have you ever found yourself in a relationship with someone, but have fallen in love with someone else? Your heart says to leave the person you're with to go with the other...but your head says you should stay....and you're torn on what you should do. You wanna tell the world that you are in love with this other person, but you are afraid of all the shame associated with having those feelings for someone other than the one you're "with"...and the guilt for wanting to leave the person you're with, and whom you love...for someone else who you are head over heels for.

Daydream Baby:

The butterflies....lack of attention....heart flutters....racing thoughts...daydreams....all because you have fallen head over heels in love. You feel as though you are flying through the clouds....on the most amazing 'high' All your thoughts are consumed by your 'daydream baby'...and every moment that passes without them in your arms, feels like an eternity...feels like your soul is shattering and your heart is breaking....tiime passes so slowly, making you feel like you're going crazy inside...until you can be reunited with your daydream baby, where you will fly up high...like butterflies....

I Miss You:

When a relationship ends...ever missed someone so much that it felt like you couldn't go on? You hope with every ounce of your soul that they miss you too....and feel the same way...and you would do anything to have them come back home to you....so you could feel them in your arms once again....to hold them close...to have their love again.... You crave their affection, you need their touch....you miss them more than they will ever know....and you hope they miss you too.

Sailing Away:

This was inspired by a cruise that Sharon took back in 1999 with a few friends. She was so inspired by her experience, she wrote the lyrics while she was on the cruise...after spending hours on the upper deck at 1 am in the morning...just she and the vast ocean...splashing and dancing over her while the wind gusts carried her hair like a flag on the breeze.... overwhelmed with emotions...she needed to get the feelings down on paper...so when she got back to her room, she penned the song. The music and arrangement was composed in 2008, when Sharon and Jimmy put music to this happy song about being on a cruise...and how wonderful it felt to be....sailing away on a dream....

What The Fans Are Saying
I am an Audio Vamps fan 1st and foremost for the songwriting and performance ability, you guys write very melodic and heartfelt songs that are truly enjoyable to listen to and you are both fantastic musicians. One of the other biggest reasons is because I am a huge fan of great guitar playing which you have definitely brought to the table with Audio Vamps... the other reason I am a fan of both yours and Audio Vamps, is because I watch the help and advice you give the members of Rock House on a daily basis and I must say that I don't know many guitar players of your caliber who would give so freely of their time and knowledge to others without asking anything in return. Thank you for all that you do my friend, God Bless!!!
S.B. - Liverpool Nova Scotia (Canada)

I am now a fan of Audio Vamp via Jim Rutkowski (Prof. Jim) who referred me to your site. I will let others know of you.J.S. - Redford, MI

I am an Audio Vamps fan because the music you make is awesome. It sounds really good. I'm also a fan because it gives me something that inspires me to become better and practice. I'm still a somewhat beginner and at times learning guitar can be frustrating and your music gives me something that I can listen to and realize that if I stay with guitar and practice that maybe I can play music that sounds just as awesome as what you make. Overall I'm a fan because I really like your music and it keeps me motivated.
C.H. - Bolingbrook, Illinois

There are three reasons I am an Audio Vamp fan. I doubt all of them, if any, are that original. Here goes:
1. The music has a kind of 70s sound to it to me. I believe the group's sound goes back to the roots of soft rock with a little pop thrown in, but still retains some modern day tones. Some of the tracks seem to almost have a hint of a jazz feel to them as well. It's a really complex sound in my opinion.
2. Jimmy Rutkowski's guitar tracks are awesome. Jimmy will play a great line throughout the song, then WHAM!, hit you with a killer solo or throw in something more powerful to break it up just a little. Basically, he tries to keep the group's sound true to what they are doing while still giving it an edge or uniqueness. What else would you expect from someone who is known as "The Professor"?
3. Sharon Zaubi's vocals complete the package. There's a yearning in her voice that takes one back to artists like Janis Joplin. It has an old school rock-folk-sometimes jazz sound to it, depending on the song. This is a good thing. The music industry already has too many pop divas checking in and out of rehab in between personal appearances who all sound the same. Sharon's vocals are refreshing in that aspect.
Mark Berryman - Bowman, Georgia

I first heard of Jimmy through Rockhouse almost two years ago and his lessons have been so invaluable to me but I never imagined how cool the music that was just put out in Audio Vamp sounds, I've just turned on many friends to them and I could only wish the best for the whole band. Keep up the awesome work folks.
