About Me

Psychedelic, melodic, electric, ecclectic & free loving... experimental rock created in a Ferndale basement . . . Mother of Stone was formed in 2005 with members Danielle Galbraith, Chrissy Mongeau, and Bobby McDade.
In October of 2002 Danielle & Sarah Reznich
formed a duo with Danielle and Sarah both singing and playing guitar. Erie dark and melodically enchanting ~ Sarah and Danielle wanted to add roots to this sound, so Kristian Ford later joined as the bass player and John McArthur as the drummer, which would become "Day".
Kristian Ford was formerly of the band "The Velvet Glove" and was at the time, engaged, then married to, then ultimately divorced from Danielle. This inception of "Day" was derailed in 2003 when Sarah left the band.
Chrissy then joined "Day" as the bassist and back-up vocalist, and Kris switched to playing the guitar. Chrissy is Danielle's cousin and long time friend and was formerly the bass player in Kris's former band "The Velvet Glove".
In late 2003 John left "Day" and Bobby McDade took his place in the band. Bobby McDade was formerly the guitar player and vocalist in "Nova" and "Blue Sunshine", and is currently the guitar player and vocalist of "Walkways".
For two years, the band performed at Metro Detroit venues, such as The Old Miami, Smalls, and The New Way Bar. Basement recordings ensued & a crazy trip to Virgina Beach, which left the band stranded in the middle of the night on the PA turnpike. The resulting recordings were the result of many a crazy drunken or otherwise nightly gathering.
In 2005 the band split apart due to pregnancy and divorce and craziness, and reformed again with Bobby on drums, Chrissy on bass & backing vocals, and Danielle as the guitar-playing vocalist, this time as Mother of Stone.
In May of 2006 an injury forced Bobby to retire as the drummer for Mother of Stone. Enter Graham Beck,
the ex-vocalist of "She Said Yes" . . . he is the newest member of the rotating door known as "Mother of Stone/Day" as the drummer.
Mother of Stone is currently practicing and playing shows in the Metro Detroit area and will soon be making more basement recordings for your listening pleasure.
"THIS BAND ROCKS!!!! FROM START TO FINISH THEY BRING YOU THAT HEAVY PSYCHEDELIC SHIT YOU WANT. BLACK SABBATH MEETS THE HARMONIZING OF CROSBY/STILLS/NASH AND THROW IN A LITTLE HOLE? YOUR GONNA FUCKING LOVE IT!!!! "
