About Me

Push To Talk
Oakland Californias Push To Talk are exploding onto the scene bringing their own brand of indie pop, infused with an earnest approach and honesty long-missing from a genre filled with so many static, fabricated acts. Their influences are as varied as their own personal tastes and styles. James Leste, the primary songwriter, formerly of east bay punk great Quest For Quintanaroo, has burgeoned into his own style after years of honing his songwriting craft. His powerful voice, often reminiscent of a younger Morrissey, sells the catchy hooks and skillful verses hes penned, yet cant hide the frankness and honesty that permeates his lyrics. Peter Sulivan, formerly of Oakland contemporaries The Wunder Years, brings his soulful, yearning guitar melodies and the telecaster twang that gives Push To Talk its signature sound. Nate Higley anchors down the bottom end with his aggressive and melodic bass style, formerly of Asian Man Records' Short Round. Filling in the void between the mid and low end, Brett Wittman on keys came to Push To Talk after a late-night phone call asking if he remembered anything from his seven years of childhood piano lessons. Over all, the sonic landscape created by Push To Talk is a lush one, at the very least, and their manic live shows continue to win them fans from all walks of life wherever they are given the opportunity to perform. With a record slated for release early next year on Doghouse Records, Push to Talk are keeping their fans constantly wanting more. Arjun.
"A few weeks ago we got a package from Tim O'Heir with the final recording from Push To Talk. I haven't stopped listening to it since. Tim has an uncanny way of producing, not just candy, but a myriad of sounds that echos so thick, you can't help but get lost in it. I want to say this album reminds me of so many bands and it does, but without being too derivative. It's a very textural album full of subtle sounds combined with big choruses. James' vocals puts you in his story or at least you want to be there! I cannot say enough nice things about this record. It's simply a gorgeous piece of work. I love it and it's something you should give a listen to when it comes out on Doghouse in April because times are changin' my friends and I'm happy that there is a band out there who are willing to be true artists making true music that is their own."
