About Me

Steve Valdez, a Texas native, entered the music scene in the 1980’s. Steve has accomplished much in the years he has been playing music. After just three years in the business, he became the biggest country music attraction in south Texas, packing in dance halls and clubs with large crowds.Although Steve’s heart is in country music, he is currently showing his songwriting and vocal versatility with his most recent project. This project has taken him back to his roots with his writings and recordings of Latin International songs sure to establish Steve in the Latin International market. Steve exhibits tremendous energy on stage which has a strong impact on the audience. This makes Steve extremely marketable in the entertainment industry!Even during his strong reign in the country scene, Steve liked to include some Spanish country in his performances, which is a contributing factor to his tremendous success in south Texas. This is one of the reasons Steve has been booked with top Latin artists such as Selena (see pics or slide show), Emilio, Mazz, David Lee Garza, and Ram Herrera, to name a few.Steve has done numerous concerts throughout Texas and the southeastern states with more than 40 different well-known country artists such as George Strait, Garth Brooks, Dwight Yoakum, Randy Travis, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Clint Black, Alan Jackson, Billy Ray Cyrus and more (see pics or slide show), and has received great reviews from the local press and audiences after the concerts. He also performs songs that he has written and composed. He is well-known in south Texas for one such song he released in 1990, entitled “Hell Raisin’ Cowboy” (from the album by the same name), which became his signature song.In 1992, Steve moved to Nashville where he recorded another album entitled “Attitudes and Honky Tonks” which has a unique Texas sound and included several of his own original songs. His first single was released for air play in February of 1993 under an independent label and climbed to 2 on the Independent Charts where it remained in the Top 10 for eight weeks. The second release made its way to the 5 spot. The third single went to 3 on the charts. Steve was nominated for New Male Vocalist of the Year at the 1994 Independent Music Awards. The album also was among the nominees for Album of the Year. Steve's new project featuring Latin International songs shows that his strong songwriting abilities and vocal versatility span International boundaries.Myspace Contact Tables

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: The band is known asSteve Valdez and His Barroom Buddies
Influences: One of my first influences was local South Texas favorite - Country Roland, who taught me a lot about the music business and playing to the audience. Another great influence has to be George Strait, whom I've had the pleasure of opening for. He is an inspiration and a truly sensational artist. Other greats like legends George Jones, Merle Haggard, and Waylon Jennings really inspired me as an artist. I've been inspired and learned something from every major artist I've had the privilege of opening for and working with. My hat's off to all of them!
