Fake Disco Records www.myspace.com/fakediscorecords) was founded by Thomas Durkin (aka Temu) and Michal Kordys in early 2008. The label is based in Brighton and was the result of Mr Kordys returning to the UK after a 10 month stint in his native Poland, where he found himself re-energised and full of new ideas. After observing the changing tastes in Eastern Europe, Mr Kordys got in touch with his old friend Temu in view of creating a label that was a smorgasbord of English and Eastern European music. The duo who had originally met in shady circumstances in the hospitality industry began to collaborate, remix and cross-polinate their musical styles and so Fake Disco was born. The initial roster consists of Mr Kordys, Temu, Lazylab, Hermes Cougar and Vein Cat though the label is looking for other artists who fit the shared aesthetic. The best example of the Fake Disco style is the song Fake Disco which was first made as an electro-disco song, arranged and produced in a rock style by Mr Kordys. It was then remixed by Temu who gave the track a freshly distorted electro vibe enhancing its club credentials. After four months Mr Kordys came back to the song with a new approach and began altering and arranging Fake Disco. The final 2008 version of the track incorporates both Mr Kordys and Temu's musical styles embodying the style of Fake Disco Records.Fake Disco Records is a fusion of the current wave of Eastern European excitement at discovering new musical styles and the more fragmented underground nature of the UK scene. Mr Kordys quips ‘We all come from different backgrounds but after a year of open collaborations we have begun to develop our own hybridized approach to music. It benefits all of us by putting Hermes Cougar [uplifting dub house] next to Mr Kordys [Eastern bigbeat with a more commercial edge] in the roster.’The first Fake Disco Records single 'She's Burning as Fire' by Mr Kordys (www.myspace.com/mrkordys) is out now and can be purchased on Juno. This will shortly followed be by Hermes Cougar's (http://www.myspace.com/hermescougar) Dork and Feersum Endjinn releases.
