About Me

TUNNEL VISION has been nominated
in the BEST ALTERNATIVE ALBUM category
for the SOUTH AFRICAN MUSIC AWARDS 2007!
Tunnel Vision has been nominated in the
BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR
category for the Blunt Magazine Awards.
About the Sick-Leaves "This South African band is more than just a clever name, they’re the freshest thing local rock has seen in a long time. The band has also succeeded in producing a unique spin on a genre that refuses to die out."
Nikki Temkin - Sunday Times

"Tunnel Vision...a shimmering, melodious triumph...the best SA rock album of the year by a country mile"
Matthew Freemantle - SL Magazine

The Sick-Leaves is the brainchild of singer, songwriter and guitarist Eksteen Jacobsz who started the Sick-Leaves in the Spring of 2004. In his quest to alleviate the boredom of normal day to day routine he transcended the bullshit and made music - disregarding the pitfalls, dangers and perks of being a "musician".
Through the accumulation of songs over the years the time came to put it to tape and the result was his debut album, "Tunnel Vision". On the album he augments the feverish Brit-rock blueprint of bands like Placebo (“Kiss & Tell”) with an array of influences that take in 60s garage rock grit (“Coffee Break”) and pop smiles (“Short Skirts”), deft doses of 70s psychedelia (“Across The Line”) and glam rock (“Tell You All”) and unadorned 80’s disco punk (“The Usual Favours”). It was duly nominated for the Best Alternative Album at the 2007 SAMA’s.
The second album, "Stone the Crow", was once again produced by the extraordinary Matthew Fink, who also produced "Tunnel Vision". The pair of Jacobsz and Fink struck up a formidable working relationship back in '05 and it will be most evident on the release of the second record. The album is out now.
International fans can buy "Tunnel Vision" from Cdbaby (www.cdbaby.com/thesickleaves) or Amazon.com. The album is also available in South Africa on Kalahari.net and good music shops including Musica, Look and Listen and CD Warehouse.
