[updated 10/16/06]
i'm skankin richard. i used to be a nameless old guy, but one day a friend by the name of john greco gave me a name that people could remember and i became skankin richard. about a year later, another friend named anthony started a myspace for me and the rest is history.
i live in milford ct, which is perfect because i can get to shows in ct, western ma, northern nj, li (pronounced lawn guyland) and poughkeepsie ny. nyc is just 90 minutes by train. all these areas have frequent shows. i work 50-60 hours a week, so sometimes i miss shows because of work. i like to skank, and i'm getting better at it. see for yourself:
i like SKA in just about any form that it comes in - traditional ska from jamaica in the early 60's, the ska revival that occurred in great britain in the late 70's and early 80's, thanks to the specials, madness and the selector (and others), and the toasters, who pretty much brought 2-tone ska to america and who paved the way for the bosstones and countless other bands who became part of the 3rd wave of ska. i'm not a rude boy. i hate to dress up. i'm a t-shirt and jeans kind of guy. i strongly support local bands, because they are the future of the scene. you should too.
wanna ruin my day? i-m me and tell me your band isn't going to play ska anymore.
OK, now for the ska test....
I AM 72% SKA! dicky barrett, you rule!
Well, not too bad considering i don't wear checkered clothing or have glasses with yellow lenses and i dont' play a horn and was never in a marching band and i don't own a pair of red converse and have never even BEEN to cali...well american ska started in nyc, anyway, duh. Take the SKA test at Fuali.com
