Music, words - in music & in rhyme, cooking (I'm a great cook, I'm told - no big, unknown Italian mama is cooking here - I am!), playing the piano now and then, birds of prey, books, taking care of my twin boys & my 250-year-old country cottage, one hour from Copenhagen, and often going off to the exact opposite: city life, friends, concerts. Generally having fun. And music. And music.
New MUSIC - new PEOPLE
"The usual canon" as a friend of mine wrote.... At first I wrote this list of my favourite artists, but I see that they give no real impression of the music I like. Check out my list of friends (among them artists and bands) - and that will reveal a more accurate picture of the "clothes" I wear right now.The following artists make up my musical BACKGROUND: Ramones, Johnny Thunders & Patti Palladin, Replacements/Paul Westerberg, The Dream Syndicate/Steve Wynn, sixties girl groups, Richard Ashcroft, Brian Setzer, Ricky Nelson, Lene Lovich, Lemonheads, Roxy Music, Charlie Feathers, Byrds, Patti Smith, Nikki Sudden, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Weezer, Tom Waits, Phil Spector, Leonard Cohen, J.S. Bach, Brahms, (not all, but the "romantic" sides of) Mahler, Jerry Lee Lewis, Nuggets bands, Eels, The Ronettes, Johnny Cash, The Thrills, Billie Holiday, Coleman Hawkins, Ennio Morricone, seventies Glam: Slade, Mott The Hoople, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel - and on and on. Female fronted bands..a weak spot. The obvious ones (need I say?): Elvis - Presley AND Costello, walking side by side, Lennon, Bowie, Blondie, R.E.M. (mid-and late 80'es). SCANDINAVIAN bands: Jokke & Valentinerne, Kaizers Orchestra, Bergman Rock, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Kent, Thåstrøm, The Cardigans - but most of all: these old & new NORWEGIAN friends of mine - JA! - to be found on this page. DANISH bands: I really don't know...not too many, I'm afraid, but clearly: The Defectors, Jens Unmack, Death To Frank Ziyanak, Wolfkin and The Raveonettes.
Belle de Jour (Bunuel), Once Upon A Time In America (Leone), Que La Bete Meure (Chabrol), Silence Of The Lambs (Demme), The Godfather (Coppola - even my children know this already..) Down By Law (Jarmusch), Frances (Clifford), Rebecca (Hitchcock), Bagdad Café (Adlon), almost any movie by David Lynch (why didn't I mention him first?)
The Sopranos, movies, re-runs of Twin Peaks, documentaries, not much else - I spend very little time watching
Isak Dinesen/Karen Blixen: Baudelaire, James Ellroy, F. Scott Fitzgerald, T.S. Eliot, Dorothy Parker, Lawrence Durrell, Tove Jansson, Anaïs Nin, Paul Auster, Virginia Woolf, Gustaf Munch-Petersen, Erik Fosnes Hansen, Anne Sexton, Johannes V. Jensen, Leo Tolstoy, Jon Krakauer and last, but not least, Homer
Scheherezade, moomin trolls, little boys who play ball, men and women who are not afraid!
