About Me

Recently I received a note about my disc "Unadorned":
"Your voice is KILLER!!!!! Lisa I love your cd."
Jackie DeShannon.
Well, it made me feel like all the bits, pieces and loose ends of a torn n tattered career made some sense.
"Lisa Burns' voice evokes a little girl who spent too much time in nightclubs." it's true, Jennifer Kelly, it's true.
My current project New Randy "A raunchy glimpse through the female lens, written by Lisa B. Burns and Holly Anderson, both accomplished artists, neither in the first blush of youth..." jennifer kelly is right on again. Holly and I are moms (okay a tad off the beaten path, but very devoted moms) and sometimes collaborate via email while we're preparing dinner.
'Nimbly worded, charmingly executed, and completely bereft of Family Values. As always.' Jeff Hunt (Table of the Elements + Radium record labels)
Some history n starts n stops include recording "Lisa Burns" for MCA when I was a mere lass. "Lisa Burns sharp smoky voice enables her to snake through soul ballads as no white singer has done in quite some time. Burns' exhilarating swoops and gulps and leaps of register quickly establish her own style." Rolling Stone
As Veleveteen, Sal Maida and I wrote and produced the danceable "After Hours" for Atlantic Records. As songwriters Sarah Brightman covered our songs. We formed The Lovin' Kind with a hybrid hillbilly sound as an antidote to the pop music business. Hunt these records down, they're good.
