About Me

It's 2007 and I thought why not update this section. So, what would you like to know about me? I'm an avid phootgrapher who loves to spend time traveling the globe finding all the best spots to surf. If your idea of traveling is simply doing a weekend bender in Vegas, or a week at an all-inclusive in Mexico, that's not really traveling. During my travels throughout the US I found many people who haven't even stepped outside their own state let alone travel to Canada.
When I'm not traveling, I can usually be found either in the studio doing photoshoots, out surfing in Tofino or Portland, or in the gym. While I may be no roid monkey I believe in keeping in shape. The only challenge now is getting through the crowds of people who flock to the gym for the first 3 weeks of January to try and make their NYE resolution come true.

Photography

When you think of photography what comes to mind? My first memories of photography are that of the instant-Polaroids back in the 80s and eventually being introduced to my first camera which was a 35mm Yashika SLR. During my time in high school I began to truly appreciate photography for the art. Years after high school I got back into photography as I found that digital SLRs were finally coming down in price, and the cost of getting film developed was just ridiculous. I've moved over from film to digital and currently work with a Canon EOS350D, but early in the new year I will be upgrading to a Canon 30D. Areas of photography of interest are that of glamour/creative and black and white photography. Currently working on my photography portfolio and have had the pleasure of working with models throughout Vancouver. Being that I do this on the side, I've not had as much time to post my work. In the coming weeks you should see some new photos as well as some updates as I've had some time off to work on them. This year I hope to make it out to NYC to work with River Clark and out to LA to work with Twink, Kelly Deva, and a few others. Currently work with some amazing folks here in Vancouver, but I'm always looking to expand my network, that which includes makeup artists, stylists, hairstylists, models, and fellow photographers. I have only a few spots left for January and February so if you're interested in doing some collaborations, please drop me a line.

Traveling

In 2006, outside of my surfing trips, I was lucky enough to travel to Japan and also spend time in Hawaii. What can one say about Japan that hasn't already been said? The culture is amazing, the nightlife outstanding, and experiencing true Japanese food. No, you can't order dynamite rolls in an izakaya in Japan. Trust me, I tried. The clubbing experience is wide and vast with a huge array of music, and the admission prices reminded me of Vegas. Last but not least, the transportation system in Japan is definitely something to experience, when you compare it to the likes of ours here in Vancouver. Ever been to a Japanese onsen? Did that too, it's a little different.Hawaii as always is enjoyable, and while some people consider it to be not exotic enough, I love it purely for the surf. Cruising and surfing many of the hot spots throughout Hawaii is paradise. As for travel next year, I might make another trip back to Japan because I wasn't able to cover enough ground in a 2 week stint.2007 will include trips to LA, NYC, Tofino, Portland, Hawaii, and possibly Costa Rica.
