I'm Batman

About Me

www.heroes4hire.net
My parents, Dr. Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne, were murdered before my eyes at the age of eight. I was raised by my uncle Philip and my butler Alfred Pennyworth. This was very traumatic for me and drove me to a life of fighting crime.
My alter-ego is Bruce Wayne, a billionaire industrialist and philanthropist. To the world at large, I am an irresponsible, superficial playboy who lives off my family's personal fortune and the profits of Wayne Enterprises, a major private technological firm that I have inherited. However, I am also known for my contributions to charity, notably through the Wayne Foundation, a foundation devoted to helping the victims of crime and preventing people from turning to it.
I swore an oath to rid the city of the evil that had taken my parents' lives. I spent my youth traveling the world, training myself to intellectual and physical perfection and learning a variety of crime-fighting skills, including criminology, forensics, martial arts, gymnastics, and disguise. At age 14, I began my global sojourn, attending courses at Cambridge, the Sorbonne, and Princeton University in New Jersey. Beyond academia, I acquired more "practical" skills. While abroad, I learned all 127 major styles of combat, from Aikido to Yaw-Yan. Frenchman Henri Ducard, Ra’s al Ghul’s right-hand man, made me an apprentice in manhunting. The ninja Kirigi schooled me in stealth and the ways of the shadow warrior. African Bushmen taught hunting techniques, while Nepalese monks revealed healing arts. My knowledge of so many varied disciplines has made me an unconventional and unpredictable opponent. After returning to Gotham in my mid-twenties, I made several harrowing and near-fatal forays into the world of crime-fighting before donning my now familiar costume that was in part inspired by another tragic accident of my life that would have a profound impact on who I would become. At the age of six, I fell down a cavern, located beneath Wayne Manor (later to become the Batcave), that was swarming with bats. I was forever haunted by the event despite the timely arrival of my father. I then decided to take on the symbol of the bat to strike fear into my enemies as that was the creature that I feared most.
