serkan çakıt was born in 1982 in bursa, he began his musical journey in the hüseyin avni sözen anatolian high school as a school vocalist, he has studied classical piano and took lessons for several years with private teachers, in 1999 he won the second prize in the milliyet singing contest organized between the high schools in turkey, after graduation from the regular high school, he entered in same time in both the academy of music in istanbul university in the opera department as well as in the yildiz technical university in the architectural department, in those years, he had the chance to sing opera songs at some consulates such as the german, austrian, dutch and belgian ones, all located in istanbul, after successful graduation from both universities in 2006, serkan started to study jazz with sibel köse, in the same time he took additional jazz piano lessons with tolga bedir, in 2007 serkan won the polish pulawy jazz workshop scholarship prize for young jazz singers, a competition organized in turkey by the famous nardis jazz club in istanbul, and as an award he went to poland for ten days in july 2007, there he had the chance to sing in several jam sessions with unique jazz musicians for the whole ten days, later, in the same year, as a highlight in his short career, he sang on stage with mark murphy in one of his concerts in istanbul, since 2007 serkan is studying jazz, and improving his talent in sibel köse's jazz studio, he is also singing regularly in different jazz clubs in istanbul, for him it's an opportunity to improve his "vocalise" style, the art of putting lyrics to instrumental solos, and trying to work on the pieces of great musicians such as eddie jefferson, jon hendricks, mark murphy and kurt elling
