About Me

ICE CREAM GIRL SCREAM Lollipop
Sakura and the Quests - My Boy Lollipop (1967)
A singapore singer, named Sakure Teng, covered several Western songs including Puppet on a String and My Boy Lollipop. She released a fourtrack ep in 1967 featuring Puppet on a String. Sakura is backed by a band called The Quests who were seemingly the in-house band at EMI-Columbia, Singapore and also backed other singers including Rita Chao.
Connie Francis - Lollipop Lips (1963)
A popular singer of tearful ballads and jaunty up-tempo numbers, Francis was one of the most successful female artists of the 50s and 60s. She began playing the accordion at the age of four, and was singing and playing professionally when she was 11. Signed for MGM Records in 1955, her first record was a German import, "Freddy", which was also recorded by Eartha Kitt and Stan Kenton. Upbeat songs were amongs others "Stupid Cupid" (another UK number 1 coupled with "Carolina Moon") and "Where The Boys Are".
The Chordettes - Lollipop (1958)
The Chordettes were one of the longest-lived vocal groups with roots in the mainstream pop and vocal harmonies of the 1940s and early 1950s. Although the four women's arrangements owed more to the Andrews Sisters than doo wop, they did, unlike many of their peers, prove fairly adaptable to the rock era. First establishing themselves with the huge (and non-rock) pop hit "Mr. Sandman" in 1954, they continued to chart in the last half of the 1950s and the early 1960s, often with covers of rock and R&B songs. The 2 1958 hit "Lollipop" was the biggest of these.
The Sensations - Lollipop Baby (1961)
The Sensations, a quartet from Philadelphia, PA, were one of the first groups of the rock and roll era with an all male background and a female lead. In November, 1955 the Sensations first single "Yes Sir, That's My Baby" was released and by February 18, 1956. In the winter of 1961, the Sensations came out with "Let Me In" which became their biggest hit.
Becky & the Lollipops - My Boyfriend (1964)
Becky and the Lollipops were none other than a pseudonym for Ricky Page and her family who also recored under the names of The Bermudas, Joanne & the Triangles, The Majorettes and Beverly and the Motorscooters.
Ice Cream Girl Scream is dedicated to showcasing girl groups from 1955-1965. I will try to write some lines about every song, which won't always be the case because it's hard to find information about certain songs. Enjoy.
