music- playing, listening, viewing....., my guitars, writing songs, web stuff, geeky computer stuff, art, pilates, running, biking, swimming, kayaking, skating, travel, wine, beer, food, doing things rather than having things...
Other non-flakey, obsessed musicians. Some trailblazers, maybe. People who say what they think. People who have the courage of their own convictions.
Some current favorites: The Shins, The Strokes, Hot Hot Heat, The White Stripes, Rasputina, Over the Rhine, Bjork, Shivaree, The Cult, The Cure, The Smiths, The Ramones, T Rex, Bowie, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Patsy Cline, Neil Diamond, Tom Jones, Elastica, Goldfrapp, Ladytron, Portishead, Zero7, Radiohead, Nirvana, Muse, The Pretenders, Adam and the Ants...
Calamity Jane is my favorite movie (since I was a child, in fact, and developed a taste for buckskin and showgirls.) Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (with Steve Martin and Michale Caine) was really funny. I like stupid movies like Romy and Michelles's High School Reunion. I think I saw Breakfast Club 50 times when it came out (I didn't pay, I was a delinquent pre-teen and snuck in the back door. Its hard to go un-noticed with purple hair, so that takes skills.)I like foreign and independent films and old musicals.
Law & Order and Lost. Project Runway. Rockstar. I don't watch too much tv, but I did love Freaks and Geeks, Buffy and Sex and the City. Pity they are not on anymore.
I like everything by Proust and Jeannette Winterson. The Passion in particular. Memoirs of a Geisha was a great read. I obsess over Rock n Roll Biographies. I just read the Three Martini Playdate (for personal reasons) and loved it. Too many others to list.
Melora Creager (from Rasputina.) Oscar Wilde. my mom, my aunt and my grandmother. Maud Gonne McBride and Countess Marckievitz. Hume, Russell, Godel and Plato. Sophists, empiricists and epicureans united. David Bowie and Bjork. Proust and Jeannette Winterson. When I was a wee one I was obsessed with Boy George and Dorothy Parker, its been downhill since then.
