PLEX - THE GRIND OUT NOW!!!
The History:I originally became interested in Electronic Muisc back around 1997 when I head song like "Breathe" by the Prodigy and "Block Rocking Beats" by The Chemical Brothers getting played on the radio. From then on I searched for and devoured all Electronic Music I could get my hands on. The days of Napster greatly helped me to explore the music even further. I began to experiment with production and mixing with free software I came across, and finally invested in my first set of turntables around 2003 and began collecting records with all the spare money I could put together from any place I could find them.
This was the period where I finally began to develop my taste for House Music after hearing one of Frankie Knuckles' mixes. From there I dove head first into House, buying up all the CDs and records I could get my hands on. I started buying most of my records online where there was a much larger selection, with an even broader variety of sounds to choose from.
I quickly outgrew my pair of cheap, belt-driven turntables and upgraded to more professional equipment. Between my quickly growing mixing skills and my new found taste for turntablism they just weren't doing the job. I also started recording mixes to help myself improve, and occasionally passing them out to friends.
Then Came the Summer of 2005, when it all really began to happen. I happened across a flier for one of True Crew's parties - Star Search. This featured the 15 Minutes of Fame Contest, giving a first come first serve opportunity to new DJs to get to play in front of a crowd. Needless to say, I signed up immediately, and got my chance to get my foot in the door. I threw down everything I had and got the crowd jumping in seconds - an amazing feeling to say the least. I ended up winning the House portion of the contest and got my first full set a few months later at Freeze as my prize. By then I had a real demo to hand out to people, and a real opportunity to begin to make a name for myself.
Shortly after that I hooked up with Abstract Traxx, thanks to my demo Up Jump the Boogie. I began to get a few bookings, which I was incredibly excited about. Since then I've been working on networking and self-improvement. I'm still the new kid on the block when it comes to being a DJ, but that doesn't discourage me from doing anything I can to help the scene, help others, and rock the dancefloor... and I don't plan on stopping any time soon.
