**************************************************Los Fantasmas del Valle play la musica tejana, also called "Tex-Mex" or conjunto, a lively style originating in the late 19th century when German, Czech, and Polish immigrants introduced the button accordion into Mexican working-class communities in southern Texas. Prior to this time, the music in this region was a mix of traditional Mexican genres and popular European dances such as the polka, schottische, mazurka, and waltz. Over the next 50 years, a new form evolved, combining the accordion sound with this dance music. By the early 1930s the modern conjunto style had emerged as a vibrant and distinctive Tex-Mex fusion. A boisterous music performed primarily for dancing, it revolves around the sounds of the accordion and the bajo sexto, a 12-string guitar-like instrument that adds a bass rhythm. Electric bass and drums were added later, beginning in the 1950s. Los Fantasmas del Valle formed in 1968 in Mercedes, Texas, a city in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Known to locals simply as "El Valle," the region's a hotbed of conjunto (which literally means "group") music. Inspired by the lyrics of their first recorded song, "Mis Pasos Andaran," about a young man whose ghost still haunts the girl he loved, the group adopted the name "Fantasmas" (ghosts). Since then, Los Fantasmas del Valle have made more than 45 recordings in their 39 years together, and performed all over the U.S. and in Mexico. Founding members Hector Barron (bass, vocals) and Julian Figueroa (bajo sexto, vocals) were joined in 1992 by drummer Cruz Gonzalez. The group's newest member, 23-year-old Rodney Rodriguez (accordion) from Rio Grande City, joined in May of 2000. He replaced Mike Gonzalez, who contributed to the success of the group for more than 25 years before leaving for health reasons. This Valley -style music, which is accepted throughout the state of Texas as true Tejano music, is perfect for dancing and having a great time. This four piece band has steady driving rhythms and vocal harmonies that make all who hear them want to dance and sing along. Their rendition of old folk songs interpreted in their unique style truly make these songs their own. The interplay of voices and the tightness of the music as a whole is something that can only come from years of working together and getting it right. To hear Los Fantasmas del Valle is to hear something not found in nearly enough Tejano music, confident maturity.

Along with David Olivares on bajo sexto, Jesse Benavidez on bass guitar, and his son Sean Rodriguez on drums, Eddie Rodriguez creates this familiar sound. On this CD, a new member, Sara Fonseca, makes her recording debut as a vocalist.Appropriately entitled "Nuevos Caminos," this new CD takes Los Volcanes into new musical territory. Heartfelt rancheras, rhythmic cumbias and even a polka and a huapango make up this great, new 14 song CD with highlights including: "Atrapado," "Diganle," and "Echenme La Tierra Encima." Los Volcanes performs on a regular basis in the Pacific Northwest (Washington and Oregon) as well as Idaho and California. They also have been the opening group for such acts as Gilberto Perez, Ruben Vela, Los Garcia Brothers, Banda Machos, and Los Tucanes De Tijuana, just to name a few.Los Volcanes were recognized in 2003 at the Tejano Music Awards when drummer/percussionist, Sean Rodriguez, took home the prestigious "Percussionist of the Year" award on his debut recording. unto Music- A style of popular dance music originating along the border between Texas and Mexico, characterized by the use of accordion, drums, and 12-string bass Guitar and traditionally based on polka, waltz, and bolero rhythms. The definition of Conjunto Music throughout the years has evolved and altered from different influences, styles, and cultures that has made it today as a very unique musical genre. The origins of Conjunto music will always be remembered by the great accordion players such as Tony De La Rosa, Steve Jordan, Ruben Naranjo, etc… but today,, the future of Conjunto has been kept alive by several great accordion players… One of them being Eddie Jimenez. Eddie Jimenez, one of the young bloods of Conjunto Music, is widely considered a rising star among the best the industry has to offer today. Born and raised in the bordertown of Eagle Pass Texas, Eddie was influenced by the Mexican culture of Piedras Negras Coahuila and the Tejano roots of Eagle Pass. Eddie grew up in a musical environment in which his father (Hector) and brother (Jaime) were very well established Tejano Musicians which lead him to pick up the Accordion at the age of 12. One of Eddie’s childhood friends and neighbor was a later to be Conjunto Legend, Jimmy Garcia which influenced Eddie in the Conjunto Genre. With the great success that Jimmy had with his Garcia Brothers, Eddie would’ve never thought he would one day respectively take his place. After spending four years with Los Garcia Brothers (4 Vatos Locos) Eddie still confirms to everybody that he never intended to fill such big shoes from his childhood friend but to remember and keep alive what he believed in a respective fashion. Along the way of his four year run, Eddie very much gained experience and recognition from tons of fellow artists, promoters, and 5 Tejano Music Awards Nominations, winning 3 South Texas Music Awards for Conjunto of the Year in a row, and 2 Premios a la Musica Latina for Conjunto Album of The Year. He also had the privilege of attending Internationally televised shows such as Despierta America and Escandalo TV; along the way Eddie encountered a childhood dream which was to be sponsored by an up and coming Accordion brand (Dino Baffetti); after presenting his beautiful customized engraved accordions to the public, other artists followed the trend like David Lee Garza (Los Musicales), and Steve Martinez (The Hometown Boys) etc… Now, with the fans asking for something new from the Conjunto/Tejano industry, and with many limitations to his current position, Eddie has decided to move on to a higher level of playing. He has taken the challenge of finding a style that nobody has seen before but at the same time keeping the Conjunto beat to its origins. Listening to what the fans really want is an important key to success which starts off with involving the Saxophone in the Cumbias to add the distinct flavor it projects to all the dancers. Eddie will not only play his main instrument which is Accordion but the Saxophone and also take the Lead Vocal position which has also been asked of him from the fans. After months of planning and deciding on what image would be projected, DA KRAZY PIMPZ are born. After projecting the PACHUCO image for the past 4 years, it was decided that the band would take on a new image for the future and the pachuco represended the past which was the Zoot Suit Riots of the 20’s and 30’s; the pachuco of today is the everyday person who has made it in life and worked hard to get there who just happens to drive an SUV with 20’s and 30’s but in RIMS and is basically “PIMPIN IT†which is referred to as a “ PIMP†“ El Pachuco Nuevoâ€. So, the PIMP will not only represent a FUTURISTIC new and improved PACHUCO, it will represent a much needed fresh new CONJUNTO music makeover, “PIMP’N CONJUNTOâ€!! Joining Eddie will be three of his closest lifelong friends all natives of Eagle Pass Texas, ELOY CORTINES will join on BAJO SEXTO AND SECOND VOCALS after also spending the last year and a half with Los Garcia Brothers along with Eddie, Eloy is also considered a rising star among all the bajo sexto players in the industry; he brings with him tons of potential, ideas, and is very much charismatic with the fans. Eloy has also had the priviledge and lifelong dream of being sponsored by on of the TOP caliber Bajo Sexto makers in the market from Monterrey N.L. which is famously known as HERNANDEZ. Responsible for setting the backbone of the band on the Electric Bass is Joe Cervantes, one of Eloy’s lifelong friends, after being away from music for some years, JOE is very much anxious to get back into the music industry and is coming back better than ever. Returning with Eddie on the drums will be Lionel Gonzalez, considered to be one of the best drummers in South Texas, Lionel returns to the Conjunto scene after being away for a while, Lionel was with Eddie with Los Garcia Bros. in 2004-2005 recording 2 albums together,, he will surely be a major factor in maintaining the band at a Pro level. DA KRAZY PIMPZ, will definately be one of the elite Conjunto bands of AND for the future, their goal is to keep Conjunto Music alive and take it to another level just by simply giving it a Pimp’n Makeover; “PIMP’N CONJUNTOâ€!!LINDA ESCOBAR'S NEW CD COMING OUT BY MAY 4th.
