As I sit here and reflect on how grateful I am for having the opportunity to
release my New Album "Con Sentimiento Y Corazon". I am reminded of all the
people in my world who have played such an instrumental role in my projects. It
all begin with a little girl's dream to be like her dad.
Before i tell you a little bit of who Linda Escobar is, I would like to thank a
few people..
GOD- Thank you for allowing me to do what I feel you called me to do. I continue
to let you lead the way-I'm a survivor because of you..
TO ALL THE RADIO STATIONS-that play my music, you are our voice, If you don't
play it, it doesn't get heard it's as simple as that. Thank you for always
giving me a place to call home in your format.
TO EVERYONE WHO- has given your time, offered a word of encouragement, had an
idea, took a chance. I'm forever grateful.
FANS- Thank you for allowing me to do what i love to do. Los quiero mucho!
I am a normal human being, go through my ups and downs, just like everybody
else. Recently I decided to let the world know that I am a polio survivor. Yep,
I was diagnosed with polio at the age of 10 months old.
I wore a brace, like Forest Gump and all, for 5 years. My mother did all she
could to keep my left leg muscle as strong as possible so that I could walk
without crutches. Thank you so much, mom!
Well, I grew up limping and struggling with my little handicap but guess what.
God said, "I'm going to make up for that weak leg, Ms. Linda, and give you the
gift of a good singing voice."
And so I was born to a family that was gifted and in the music industry. Eligio
Escobar was given the first opportunity to record his first record by our very
close friend, Freddie Fender. He had heard of my dad, who was singing with Los
Guadalupanos de Joey Lopez, and called him to come to San Benito and record a 45
record. And so he did; the name of the song was "South of the Border" recorded
in bilingual. It was a big hit! I just recorded a tribute song to Freddie Fender
entitled "Amigo Freddie Fender" .
I am a real sincere and down to earth person. I don't think tht I am better than
anyone else out there. I am just blessed and happy to represent my roots music:
TEX-MEX CONJUNTO from the core of my heart and soul.
I am the second generation musician of a true CONJUNTO PIONEER AND LEGEND,
ELIGIO ESCOBAR! Dad's best friends were Tony De La Rosa, Isidro Lopez, Valerio
Longoria, Ruben Naranjo, Eloy Bernal, Daniel Garces, Cornelio Reyna, and the
list goes on and on...
Me, I was there by my daddy's side doing our thing. Singing Conjunto Music as a
father and daughter team; very family oriented. We performed at big venues such
as auditoriums, theaters, dance halls, and maybe a cantina or two. But our
dignity was also present! When my father died, I thought it was the end of my
music life. Until I realized that without conjunto music, I DIDN'T have a life!
I was dead, just existing, but not truly living. I realized that my father's
wish was that I continue his legacy. That I be strong and put to use that which
he had taught me! CONJUNTO MUSIC DEL MERO CORAZON! Not mechanicaly singing and
synthesizers; but the real authentic bajo sexto y accordion de nuestro
abuelitos! And to be proud of that music that we represent and stand for! Ladies
and gentlemen, this is who Linda Escobar is. Not a glamorous, sequinced
foo-la-la singer, but just a simple, down-to-earth common folk with morals and
values. Some little girl who looked up to her father and appreciated her public,
like her father instilled in her. "Que la amistad vale mas que el dinero."
I am so very blessed to have made so many treasured friendships along the way of
my Conjunto Music path. I thank God every day for these special friends. I love
you all with all my heart. You know who you are, my carnalitas y carnalitos de
mi alma. Gosh! LOL! If I die tomorrow, I leave this world with no regrets! I
have lived my life the way I wanted to. "Dejenme Vivir Mi Vida" song says it
like I feel! Te aventaste, Apa, con esa cancion!
I don't have a big recording label company backing me up so please
give me a break, people. Give this chicana del barrio a real chance. No me creo
buena or nothing like that. Believe me.... meet me in person, listen to my
music, and give me a chance. I hope I get the opportunity to meet you all in
person ONE OF THESE DAYS. No me despido, si no que, hasta pronto! Dios me los
bendige y mucho cuidado con el peligro que hay en este mundo. MI LINDA GENTE
HISPANA - UNIDOS PARA SIEMPRE! Los Quiero Con Toda Mi Alma!
Sinceramente,
Linda Escobar
