About Me

'EL CONDOREZ are what you would call a rare treat. If you like your treats served on flaming fire that is. This is a band who seek to re-invent classic rock into neat but meaty packages of retro heavy blues and modern sounding, socially acceptable head banging. There's a generous helping of spontaneous guitar licks and on one track I swear they've combined a pre-plane crash Lyrnyrd with a Bon Scott era AC/DC. There's more, much more, as they touch on the delta blues and drink heavily on bottles filled to the brim with the illegal proof spirit of rock and roll.El Condorez are as entertaining as they are inspiring, with well written, often explosive songs and some naturally enthusiastic musical pyrotechnics. It's looking like a shrewd choice already for ITC.As a result, the DJ is also moved to treat us to 20 minutes of rock inspired music that sounds like a breath of fresh air, as the Babyshambles and Arctic Monkeys tracks are filed at the back of the record case. Hurrah!'

'El Condorez have been quietly assembling an even shinier, radiant and expectedly explosive angle to their brand of searching, classic rock. “Nothing Is Real” is full of slowly twisting rock riffs and underground bass rumbles; It’s sort of like Fleetwood Mac meets Deep Purple in places with a clear cut of clean guitar that flits to sustained heavy chords. The impressive singing is never understated but wonderfully controlled, which gives the band something to separate themselves from a lot of garage based bands . “Feed The Fire” is a bit err..fiery, with grooved out stadium sized drum work that clambers all over the toms alongside more of that fluid, almost growling bass line. As the guitars sear in with a mixture of trembling chords and incisively sharp sliced up moments, this is the sound of intelligent stoner rock, given yet again another twist of halcyon 70’s style. It’s all backed up with a smartly packaged sleeve and a PC / Mac compatible disc that also includes the tracks as mp3’s, as well as a smart video to “Rock N Roll Syndrome” – an awesome track in its own right.'

'From the moment they take the stage amongst wails of feedback leading into pummelling drums and huge riffs it's clear El Condorez belong in another era. Led Zep, The Who and The Faces loom heavily over proceedings but unlike say Wolfmother or Black Velvets they never slip over into pastiche and at times you get the feeling that if he could get away with it Dave Grohl would happily help himself to songs like "Black Sunrise" and "Rock'n'Roll Syndrome".'

'Rock n Roll Syndrome is rooted in 60s rock with plenty of testosterone and confidence like early The Who and The Rolling Stones. With attitude and confidence in abundance El Condorez are biting at Oasis' ankles, providing catchy hooks, melody and angst and youth tinged frustration, looking at life like Oasis did pre 'Definitely Maybe', before they left the dole queue behind.'
XFM
'Would be stadium rockers El Condorez, one could practically hear the 30000 strong crowd screaming over the rock guitars of the 3 piece condors as a fine looking reminder of Jim Morrison sang perfectly crafted rock anthems to those gathered around.'

'Something rather good is happening in Manchester right now. Whilst the central London collectives are still praying at the altar of retro garage rock, the North it seems, still remains one of the last bastions of gritty, alternative rock. Shying away from the sounds of post Britpop indie, El Condorez take a big hand and rip out a handful of thundering, rattling chords and splintered riffs. Rock And Roll Syndrome is a latter day Day Tripper designed for modern rockers who like to smoke, get drunk and have the odd fight after hours.'
