About Me

For all my sins, I'm a freelance photographer living and working in London... I love my work passionately, and couldn't think of a better job than combining my two passions of music and photography. So why 'for all my sins'? Because the irregularity and insecurity of a freelance pretty much sucks, although the thought of doing a 9-5 fills me with terror and so I'll stop complaining...!!I have been working freelance now for a year (after assisting the amazingly talented Miss Scarlet Page- www.scarletpage.com) and my clients have included Mercury Records, Ninja Tune, Rock Sound Magazine and more... I generally shoot portraits for press sessions/editorial/artwork, mainly within the music scene and am always keen to get involved with new bands, record labels, journalists or anyone else in the industry- so if you're reading this, give me a shout, I won't bite!!If you'd like to see more of my work, check it out at www.gempope.com! My Interests

Photography (of course), MUSIC, WRITING (currently working on a book), gigs, LONDON, exploring new cities, rickety cosy pubs, hoegaarden (and all white beers generally), meeting new exciting people, my fender jaguar which I play incredibly badly, dancing for hours, taking risks (gotta love that adrenalin rush), my amazing flat in Hackney, my 6 mates who share aforementioned flat, all of my other equally amazing friends, tatoos, falling in love (not so keen on the getting your heart broke bit tho'), reading, socialising, and generally living my life to the fullest- I don't ever want to look back and regret NOT doing something!! oh, and TALKING TALKING TALKING!! Music:

Anything and everything... although I'm a Rock Chick at heart- I'll elaborate, albeit slightly (otherwise it'll take forever) The Afghan Whigs rule, as does Placebo... Talking Heads, Violent Femmes, The Stones, Joy Division, THE RAPTURE, Goldfrapp, LCD Soundsystem, Blues Brother Castro, The Music, QOTSA, Jefferson Airplane, Franz Ferdinand, Starsailor, Audio Bullies, The Clash, Hole, PJ Harvey, and I've recently started getting into House, esp dirty house, but I wouldn't have a clue about names of DJs, and so feel free to stop on by and enlighten me..!!

Movies:

Festen... and most Dogma movies... NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE RULES... I could list an obscene amount of films, but I won't... if it's good and it makes me think, then I'll probably like it. I'll leave it at that.

Television:

It's got to be Twin Peaks... David Lynch is a genius... but also FRIENDS!! That show has got me through some hard times and never ceases to make me smile! But, again there is so much...

Books:

We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver is the best book I've read for months....

Heroes:
