Becca Hasselbrook is an alternative singer-songwriter who has loved music since her childhood. She started piano lessons in the third grade and began singing in the school choir that same year. In eleventh grade she picked up the guitar and, soon after, began to experiment with songwriting. Becca has a BA in Music Therapy from Montclair State University and feels that her education has enhanced her skills as a composer. Becca's music is an intimate reflection of her identity and thus has undergone a continuous process of growth and change. Initially her songs were most heavily influenced by alternative artists such as Tori Amos, Rachael Sage, Fiona Apple; however, her music now incorporates elements of jazz, blues, folk, and pop as well. When writing songs Becca does not focus on creating a particular style but rather allows the songs to emerge with their own unique flavor - each song therefore representing the particular personal experience that was its inspiration.
