About Me

If you want to make a friend request, please take a few seconds to send a message. Let me know if we've met before, and/or what led you to my page. I like to feel some type of connection with the people I call 'friends'.

BIOMichael Marius, known to many as Shark, is a bassist who is actively gigging and recording in the Bay Area.

Michael's foray into live music started in 1991 with his involvement in gospel music in Fresno, CA. He soon became a regular fixture in the Fresno area original music scene, performing in both ska (TruTone) and funk bands (Chocolate Soup) . His bass playing was also a central feature in a few local acoustic projects, covering a combination of classic rock, pop, and old school r&b hits.

His introduction to the Bay Area music scene started when he performed with Bray between 2002 and 2004. In 2004, Michael became one of the founding members of MWP , which is fronted by the multi-talented Michael Williams. Other Bay Area projects that Michael has performed and/or recorded with include FEMI , Malcolm Marshall (Star People) , Salome , Ahsabi Monique , Ryan Greene , Chris Marsol , Kitra , and Cavanah and the Funk Collective .

Michael Marius is also available for non local musicians who desire to assemble a band for Bay Area performances. In this capacity, he has performed with DeWayne Martin (saxophonist from Atlanta, GA) for his Living Remix record release, and with Kunle Odutayo (award winning jazz guitarist from South Africa) to promote his music in the Bay Area.On this page are some songs that include Michael's bass work. 'I Know What You Want' was written by Michael Williams and was a featured part of the MWP set. 'Eletelephony v.03' is a song written by Bray, and it is on his 'Independent Film' album.
