Junkyard Choir

The monkey in the treetop throwing coconuts.......

About Me

Junkyard Choir was formed in early 2005 in south London. From the ashes of a band called "Dirt" they began to play songs about monkeys, saving the world, Santiago & smoking without fire!!!!!Described as "Contorted energetic waltzy Polka-blues rock" by the music mag OAP. Bugbear promotions say "The Clash as if rendered voodoo hoodoo by Dr John….sinister pop swishness.""Rootsy tootsy not a little cutesy psych rock with a playful freakout quality that echoes Frank Zappa , however there’s a deep grunge throb in here too and a bluesy backbone that leads you to all sorts of ace foundation music from Traffic to Canned Heat Captain Beefheart." Bugbear"Some kind polka klezmer gravel-voiced Beafheart alt.rock.blues waltz thing from the deepest London swamps out the where the crocodiles wait and the crows pick at your flesh and you’ve got no control of the situation – what do you mean there’s no crocs in the London swamps? You don’t go to the same places as us do you? A voodoo thing, go ask Dr John about it, the sun is in their sky, the moon in their heads, monkeys in the treetops and there’s no smoke without fire..." Organ Magazine"Independent on Sunday say 'weird ska-polka rhythms"In 2007 they self-released the EP "Trying to save the world". The follow up "Delope" will be released mid 2008.Junkyard Choir are Mark Woods (Vocals & guitar), Kev Hiscox (Bass) & Tom Herbert (Drums).
