Deblois: acoustic folk surf music

About Me

name: Deblois.I am 30, I like to sing and surf and play guitar. I have a dog named Lucky, she's 13. I have performed extensively in the United States and in Central America. In Nosara, Costa Rica, where I lived for several years, I balanced music with my desire to live near the ocean and this watery theme is reflected in many of my songs. Upon my return to the U.S. I made a record of 9 original songs called Leviathan, and I have been touring to support this albulm since April of 2006. I was born in Miami, Fl, and I have played with a variety of talented musicians and I am involved in my community through music, performing at jazz clubs, bars, theaters, cantinas, resteraunts, coffee shops, honkey tonks and playhouses. I was a part of a benifit production for girls aging out of the foster-care system at the Gusman Theatre for Performing Arts in Downtown Miami where one of my original songs, "Halfway" was featured as the grand finale and soundtrack to a corresponding short film. ..

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: debloismusic.com
Band Members: Carl Schulte, percussion and drums, also a wonderful friend, surfer, massge therapist, running partner....Carl has played with me longer than anyone and holds the dubious honor of knowing all of my tunes, all 200 of them...He has a great touch on the trap set, and plays each song according to the personality and message of the tune. Buffalo Brown: bass, and on our more casual acoustic gigs: acoustic or electric guitar. Buffalo is a wonderful spirit whose laid back attitude goes perfectly with his funky and soulful playing. On the West Coast I often rely on Bill Macpherson, bass and guitar. Bill also produced both of my records, Leviathan and Velveteen. He is a veteran player out of the LA music scene with enough sense to have relocated to Costa Rica. I also play some with Danny Campbell out of San Diego, he plays the drums and helps hold down the room so I can catch my audience; they rarely seem to mind. On lead guitar I like to hire Dave Edmonston, or Pat Michalik. On harmonica my first choice is Eric Garcia, or Kellie Rucker when I can get her. On sax I like to play with Jason, or Keith Cooper. Jeffrey Shenandoah is a charmer on percussion, three congas, bongos, chimes, and he sings a bit too....
Influences: the Ocean, the Mississippi Mass Choir, Lucinda Williams, Bessie Smith, Surfing, my Dad, the little people I teach guitar to, Billy Rio, Keeva, Pooh, Grick, Indigo Girls, David Gray, Mark Twain, Jack Johnson, Norah Jones, Brad Paisley, my brothers and sisters...the mamas and the papas, Billie Holiday, U2, Alison Krauss
Sounds Like: a girl with a guitar, except when I am lucky enough to play with my friends, when we sound like a front porch jam.
Type of Label: None
