Brendyn Russo was born on the 6th of September 1981 in Cape Town, South Africa. He has always felt fulfilled and uplifted by seeing others being blessed and encouraged. It was only in the 9th grade however that God started working something deeper in his life.Brendyn started out playing drums as well as guitar in a couple of Christian bands and Worship teams in Cape Town. His first established band was called Cloud 7 in which he was involved with the band’s songwriting. The band played a number of events in and around South Africa including Newsong festival and Jesus Autumn festival. It was at this time that Brendyn met his now manager Daniel Ornellas who produced the bands first three track demo. When the band dissolved in 2000 Brendyn really felt inspired to focus more on guitar and vocals and the art of songwriting. Brendyn went on to record his own collection of 12 songs under the name of Rustiband. He played numerous shows in and around Cape Town including supporting Peculiar People Band and Superfine on two countrywide tours. He played twice at the annual Newsong festival much to the delight of his now growing fan base. Most of his time was taken up with working as a production manager on stills photo shoots, location scout for films and live performances, both full band and acoustic. He personally sold around 500 copies at the shows he played over that 2 year period.Brendyn continues to be involved in numerous trips to Zambia on missions and is an active part of his home church, the “assemblies of God†in Tableview. He has felt impressed on his heart during his stay in the U.S.A. to make the ministry of music a more vital part of his life into the future and has been blessed with the opportunity of recording these three songs in Nashville. These songs were chosen from his new Rustiband demo made up of 11 songs which he recorded in 2005 in Cape Town. His current holiday visa to the U.S. expires on the 24th of Feb 2006 where he will return to Cape Town. There have been some exciting developments as far as him coming back and being given an opportunity to serve and perform here in the U.S.A. later on this year.
