Favourite band of 2006?
The Children (an unsigned band from North Manchester). Even without the help of Paul Weller (he heard their demo at the start of the year and had them open for him at The Apollo at the end of the year) they¹re doing all the right things. Making the music they want to make, regardless of what¹s currently fashionable, keeping their heads down and grafting away, "f*ck lookin in the mirror, lets rehearse!", slowly but surely the industry is coming to them, the fans are already there, hundreds of the buggers!

The Children at The Life Cafe. They're a local band and were supporting my band The Salford Jets (and supported Paul Weller last month) and they were brilliant.

On the 27th & 28th November we supported Paul Weller at Manchester Apollo. It was a great experience and we hope to be playing venues as big at that again soon!

The Children are the band nu-Manchester has been threatening to spit out for some time, a genuine Maximum R&B band (we mean like The Who, not Jamie Foxx) who unite everyone in true rock'n'roll everyman fashion. Arguably one of the most popular unsigned bands in Manchester right now " So many bands trot out the line that they just enjoy playing their music, but this band clearly do.
