Philly Swain was born the the Southwest section of Philadelphia, in September of 1982. Philly remembers seeing rappers in the late 80’s looking and dressing like hustlers. Even though he knew being a hustler was of limits, rap wasn’t. Being musically inclined, Philly did his first show for a promoter at the age of six and they loved his swagger. Philly went on to do shows with The Brat, Master P, Trina, and Missy. As a teenager, Philly was known for winning and being undefeated during his high school competitions at the local YMCA’s where school’s from all across the city attended. Philly later signed with a local label named, Take Down Records, owned by now infamous Alton "Ace Capone" Coles. Philly performed at the Spectrum along with the likes of Jay-Z, Lil-Mo, State Property, Dipset, Clipse and Fabulous. Unfortunately due to legal issues, Philly’s album was postponed until his release. On Philly’s return from a three year term of incarceration, it is then known to him that the label he was on has been federally indited. This did not falter Philly who appeared on 106 and Park months after his return, where he went 1-0 on the last original Freestyle Friday. Not to forget he also went 31-0 at the Fight Klub auditions. He began a new label along with his producer and homeboy Sap Beats, who is still in high school. Philly also has a project titled, "Hustle Diaries", displaying life in Take Down Records. Hustle Diaries is directed by Barry Michael Cooper, writer of New Jack City, Sugar Hill, and above the rim.
