Gareth O'Connor is a singer/songwriter heralding form Edinburgh in Bonnie Scotland. He has now been in London for 5 years bringing his music to anyone who will listen from venues to undergrounds.
He has been writing and playing for many years now. However its been in the last 4 or 5 years where he has really come into his own.
He cites many different artists in many different genres (rock, blues, jazz, soul, funk, hip-hop) who inspire him. In the end he just wants music to make you think and feel and that is what he always tries to do when he writes.
His performance is very emotional and powerful and his voice is strong but at the same time can be so quiet and subtle. His lyrics do evoke thought and certainly feeling and they work beautifully with his guitar. I've seen him reduce strangers to tears one minute and a smile the next.
He has for the last 5 years been playing on his own with his guitar in hand. He was looking to start a band but has never found the right people who he feels he can make something special with. So for the time being its only himself and his Guild guitar Rosie.
