Sounds Like: Perth’s Mafafi are unashamed when it comes to naming their influences and there is certainly a good dose of US hardcore in the rough sounding ‘Dirty Pillows’. It’s a good track though and whilst the production isn’t the best it works well and gives a real feel of DIY with the impression that their live shows will be well worth checking out. 2 EP’s, 11 tracks and all over in 18 minutes. Mafafi don’t mess about here with this low budget DIY offering of hardcore punk with crunching guitar riffs and screaming a plenty which will leave you wanting for more. Highlights are “Soccer Mom” even though it’s only 33 seconds long from the Mon Doon The Dancin EP and “Doon The Noo” from In Mono. OK, it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea and the quality of the recording is a little raw but with better production and a little more variety the lads from Perth should have a good future ahead of them. I for one will be there to see the live experience when they next travel south of the border.Dean Slit Records and Promotions

Lastly the Scottish wild men known as MAFAFI or to the more curious of mind Make A Fist And Fuck It. Well whatever they do it certainly ends up in a good fucking of your eardrums as this maniacal mess of hard-edged hardcore really is a special brew. Hyped up and out of control the sound Mafafi give off coupled with their wonderful spirit and unlimited fervour is truly special and I personally think this is a very good band indeed. The singer really pours all his heart into the performance and the 3 musicians behind him do a sterling job keeping this runaway train on track. One screaming fit after another and no sooner had this musical melee started and it was over. Mafafi and my long lost son Jamie should really make some giant strides on the hardcore circuit and that would be most pleasing to see.Reviewed by OMD,Fungalpunk

A hardcore offering here from North of the Border as Scottish powermongers jump straight out of the recording flat and into yer face with several outpourings of unchained aggression and misadventure. Like well sand papered flesh this raw and bleeding effort twangs every nerve. As with most rattling raucousness it is an acquired taste but you can't help but admire the basic urgency and uncontrolled angst that go into the overall composition of discordancy. 'Hold It', 'Soccer Mum' and 'Dirty Pillows' are the pick as each track brutally bleeds into the next. For me what we have here is a good CD of honest, low-budget, no-shit music that just lacks the final blow. A few more chant 'n' rant breaks mixed with some extensive simplistic guitar rhythms and solos and you have the finished article. Overall though this is a must for the hardcore brigade and definitely worthy of a listen by any lover of punk. By the way the energy and zeal also makes fantastic viewing as Mafafi show during their excellent live sets.Reviewed by OMD,Fungalpunk
