Myspace Layouts at Pimp-My-Profile.com / Music = Life
Hi Everyone. Better late then never getting to myspace. My name is Joe Scumaci. I live in a suburb of Chicago. I have been in the music Industry all my life primarily as a Vocalist with various bands here and there, or wearing one hat or another keeping my hands in the Business. I am a Singer/Songwriter/Musician with lots of Original Material with a few posted now. I will periodically change it up as I become more familiar with this site. My father was also in the business way back when with huge accomplishments to his name and is my main mentor. You ROCK dad.. I still hope to grab a grammy some day with him in the audience and dedicate it to him..I have pretty much followed in his footprints. All my brothers have been in the business at one point or another but it's now mainly my brother Bob and myself still at it.
I was blessed a few years back by landing some Major Jingle spots for such companys as Kelloggs, U.P.S, Kit Kat and a few others, and hope to land some future spots again. I have won a nice list of contests for either singing or writing within my years and of course lost just as many. Hey, thats the business. I have been lucky enough to have played some really fantastic rooms like the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore, Rivera Casino in Vegas baby, Tupelo Coliseum in Mississippi, Rosemont Theatre, House of Blues, and Park West in Chicago to name a few. Yes, I have also enjoyed playing almost every smokey Bar and crowded Banquet Hall in the Chicagoland area as well. Its all fun and its all good. I'm still plugging away and intend on eventually getting signed. Is this Microphone on? My daughter Gianna is coming up in the wings with a HUGE amount of talent. That's my girl...
I have been lucky enough to make a pretty decent living in the Music Business doing everything from singing, producing, and promoting, to rigging lights for festivals. It’s nice to know all aspects of the Business. I have worked with some fantastic talented people through my career and hope to continue that through this page as well. I have also been lucky enough to have toured a little with various Shows across the United States, but certainly not enough, and never really as a Solo Act. Hopefully, that will come soon.
One of my proudest achievements was developing, owning, and operating a Night Club in Naperville Illinois for a while. (The Cabaret Grill & Bar) I was able to bring great local acts to the stage as well as perform there myself. It was always a PLEASURE having my best friends and the best Musicians in Chicago sitting in on Jam nights. Those same GREAT Musicians sat in on all my Original Record Demo’s just on the asking...I miss working with you all. I LUV YA MAN!!! I was even lucky enough to book and promote Hall of Fame Rock Legend Dave Mason at my Nightclub a few times. Dave is a Monster talent and still ROCKS!!! That contact came through my brother Bob Scumaci who toured with Dave for about 8 years as his keyboardist. Bob ROCKS too!!!
Please check out the newly added slide show of the club and highlights below.
Bob and I, as well as a few other writers supplied the music on this profile and we still constantly are trying to pound out new material. I am currently working on a new Original project and gigging around the Chicagoland area with various bands and track shows here and there. During the summers, I occasionally rig and run light production for festivals and have had the privilege of working with some major acts such as Jim Peterik, Mickey Thomas and Starship, Foghat, Bad Company, and quite a few others. MAN, THAT’S FUN!!! It’s nice to meet and work with acts that you grew up listening to and admired. I am still trying to be heard myself by the big wigs, so hopefully some networking here might bring me closer.
The song and player information is posted in my blog. Please feel free to comment on the music. All but the a capella track are Original material and the writer information is also listed in my blog. Although I grew up on, and performed all types of music from R&B to Opera, I am loving the new country sound and gearing that way now. The Original songs on my music profile are a mix of Country and Rock.
I would love to hear from anyone in the Music Business and those of you who love it as well. I will probably change this up later. Thanks for reading. Ciao for now.........Joe
QUICK NEW ADD. Hey gang. This is soooo cool. Many years ago when I was "trying" to be an actor as well as a singer, I was lucky enough to be in Survivor's Rock Video, "I Can't Hold Back" shot at the Park West in Chicago. My brother Bob and I met the bass player at that time, Stephen, and he told us to just show up. The director placed me in the Bar Scene which is towards the beginning of the video. As soon as the Dancer starts walking through the smokey bar, my face pops up. (Big Break) Don't blink or you will miss me, like most of the acting things I have done..lol Jim Peterik rocks and Jimi Jamesons vocals rule!!! Thanks *P* (lonely heart) for the video....Ciao
ANOTHER NEW ADD. Hi friends. as mentioned above, I was Co-owner of a great nightclub a few years back called, "The Cabaret Grill & Bar". Below are some pics of the club as well as one of the great highlights of the Cabaret. Hall of Fame Rock Legend, Dave Mason. LIVE @ The Cabaret Grill & Bar. Looking at these pictures remind me how fun and unique the club was. I miss it. I will have to do that again someday. I will post more pics when I find them...
