About Me
Márito was born in Coimbra-Portugal. He started to play drums when he was 2 years old. At the age of 5 he started to play in gigs and television and when he was 16 he finally began his professional career.
He started to study drums and music theory with only 5 years old. Meanwhile, he studied drums in New York with John Riley in Manhattan School of Music, and with Pat Petrillo, Kim Plainfield, Pete Ratzlaff, Frank Katz in Drummers Collective, he also studied with Ignácio Berroa, Kendrick Scoot, Michael Lauren, Alexandre Frazão, Vicky, Bruno Pedroso and many others. He also studied music theory with Paulo Gomes, Jorge Reis, Luis Lapa, Zé Lima among other amazing musicians.
With only 16 years old and under guidance of some of these musicians, he concluded the degree of professional musician in the CETM with 20 values on a scale of 0-20.
He also won the “C Class†of the First Iberian Drums contest. Márito is a teacher since the age of 15. He gives private drum and percusson lessons, teaches in Gira Sol Azul and Mozart in Viseu and also does Workshops. Márito Marques has worked in wide number of groups of different genders such as Peter Schön (Pianist), Tuniko Goulart (Guitarist), Rosalinde Schön (Deutch Singer), Ponto & Virgula (Pop-Rock), On the Rocks (Pop/Rock/Funk), Gira Sol Azul (Jazz) , Off The Hook (Blues), Tribal Feeling (Electrónic music), Tropical Wave (Bossa Nova) Raio-X (Progressive Rock) Orchestra de Gouveia (Jazz Big Band), Kontágio (Portuguese Rock), Orchestra of European Song Festival 07 (all kind of music), Márito is now playing with the great musician Yami.
Márito will record his album this summer.
