Bruce "Rules" and Helen "HP Kool Hype" have been co-hosting the popular (why??) Waiting for Haeger radio show on WHUS on and off (mostly off) for over a decade. They disappear, then get restless and feel the fm radio waves tugging at them again. Bruce calls Helen and asks the immortal question: "Wanna do a radio show?" Helen, who is known for 1) doing things she regrets and 2) annoying the hell out of Bruce, always says yes. Now that WHUS is all digital and super-duper high tech, you can hear WFH from anywhere in the world---go here: WHUS.org and go to the "LISTEN NOW" link. WHUS, the Beast of the East, is located at the University of Connecticut in Storrs---91.7 on the fm dial. They just relocated to their new studio in the Student Union, and boy is it snazzy and wicked. The new studio doesn't smell like stale beer, failed deodorant and urine yet, but give it a few more months and few more sleep deprived DJs working the overnight shift. Gone also are the naugahyde couches with cigarette burns in them. The walls with the sordid stories may be gone, but new stories are being told every day in that new studio. Time marches on. And maybe there are some brand new CD shelves just dying for "BRUCE RULES" to be written all over them. And maybe, just maybe, there will be carpeting on the walls. One thing is for sure: because Bruce and Helen largely ignore their levels and frequently go into the red, WFH is sure to piss off any micro-managing Chief Engineer! One can only hope, anyway. WFH knows a dirty little secret: our levels are protected by the Motherboard so we don't sound distorted when we go on the air. We just sound loud. And annoying. TURN IT UP, MAN!
Bruce probably wants to meet Herman Melville or Tolkien. Well, they're dead. So tough luck, there. Helen wants to meet Ivanka Trump and K-Fed. Why not?
