The mind behind SYLVIA RAY ARDEN is none other than singer & songwriter S. Arden. She is considered to be one of the few real “soul sisters†to emerge out of Europe, grown up in a creative artistic environment. Her general approach to music is very spiritual: “Music is a part of god. When I write or compose a song sometimes I wonder where it came from . It is transcendental, magic kept me alive, brought me through any situation, no matter how rough it was. Any song I wrote is based on personal expierience, helped me to deal with any situation , with life's ups and downs.†Inspired by the works of Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, Jill Scott, Common, Maxwell of Brand New Heavies fame, “Soul and Jazz is to deal with Life's joys and pains in a spiritual, sensual and hopeful wayâ€.Sylvia became passionate about soul and jazz music at a very early age, thanks to the musical surroundings of her father, a musician from the flourishing Warsaw jazz scene of the 70's . Her love for the music was also fueled by the fact that her father would often take her to concerts and sessions, where she hung out in a familiar mood with polish jazz stars Michael Urbaniak,Stanko or Ursula Dudziak. It was very natural for her to spend much time in artistic environments, where she was able to develop her own creative skills. After studying jazz vocals, jazz dance , funky street dance and popular music in Arnheim/ Netherlands and Cologne / Germany , Sylvia not only supported the UK/European tour of “Terence Trent D..arby†but also became the guest singer for a german tour of “Guru..s Jazzmatazzâ€. After discovering keyboards, software and drum machines, she completed some first demo recordings by herself. Sylvia’s aim is to resurrect the dusty spirits of 60s and 70s Jazz..n..Soul music with modern production skills and a strong hint towards “intelligent†club music styles. Then one of her own songs raised first interests from audiences and major industries as well. The tune made it on a Universal Music Compilations and got frequent airplay on “Radio Jazz†and “Radio Pin†until today.She collaborated with d-town productions( island records, def jam, sony, universal), n.o.h.a band(international act based in germany) , and many local and international bands accomplishing her skills in singing , songwriting and performing. Ranging between raw and sensual tones, musical results are startling: Wrapping Sylvia..s unique voice in jazz,breakbeat and hip hop frameworks finally allows her to a deeper approach of melody and seems to liberate her voice .
